Donation guidelines issued: City wants to distribute donations received as quickly as possible
Approval also for damage to heating or electrical supply - application by 31 July
The City of Chemnitz has issued a donation guideline in order to realise the distribution of donations received to private households as quickly as possible.
Both tenants and private property owners can submit applications with immediate effect. In addition to the criteria for emergency aid from the state, which is paid out for damage to the ground floor and above, donations can also be made if damage has occurred to heating and electrical distribution in the basement. Damage can be caused by surface water and/or groundwater.
If the living area is damaged, a maximum of 500 euros can be granted from donations for each adult person in the household; 250 euros can be granted for all persons under the age of 18 living in the household.
In addition, a maximum of 1000 euros can be awarded for damage to the heating system, a maximum of 500 euros for damage to the building and a maximum of 300 euros for damage to the electrical supply.
The decision on the distribution and amount of the grants is made by a donations committee.
The utilisation is earmarked. The payment may only be used for the replacement or repair of damaged or lost household items, clothing, heating and the repair of living space. There is no offsetting against similar benefits in accordance with the German Social Security Codes II and III; recipients of benefits, e.g. unemployment benefit II, may also apply for payment from donations without this being offset.
Applications can be submitted to the Mayor's Office of the City of Chemnitz from now until 31 July. The application forms are available online at www.chemnitz.de and in the customer portal of the social welfare office in Moritzhof, where you can also apply for emergency aid from the state.
Applications can be submitted by post or fax.
