The SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT Chemnitz working group is awarding the Chemnitz Career Guidance Prize for the first time. The aim is to recognise projects, initiatives and individuals who are particularly committed to providing career guidance for young people.

A sign of moral courage

International research team discovers new geological archive
An international research team has demonstrated for the first time that fossilised wood can preserve the history of the Earth over hundreds of millions of years. The Chemnitz Museum of Natural History was involved in this study, which has now been published in the journal *Scientific Reports*.

Lung Centre expanded
The Pulmonary Centre at the Heinrich Braun Hospital in Zwickau is the latest partner to join the Central German Pulmonary Centre (MLZ). In 2024, teams from Chemnitz Hospital and Altenburger Land Hospital established the first cross-state pulmonary centre in Central Germany.

Outpatient Surgery Centre successfully launched
A few weeks after the opening of Praxiswelt, Poliklinik gGmbH Chemnitz has given a positive initial assessment of its new Outpatient Surgical Centre (AOZ): during the first operation on 29 June, a tumour was removed from a patient’s eye.
