Coordinated checks in Schloßchemnitz and on the Sonnenberg

On Wednesday and Thursday, 10 and 11 June, the City of Chemnitz, in cooperation with the Chemnitz Job Centre, carried out coordinated checks regarding the obligation to register and health and safety measures. The City of Chemnitz was supported in this by the Chemnitz Police Department and the Saxon riot police; more than 30 officers from various agencies were deployed.

Commemorative event marking the 73rd anniversary of the popular uprising in the GDR

On Wednesday 17 June at 11 a.m., the City of Chemnitz, together with the Association of Victims of Stalinism (Vereinigung der Opfer des Stalinismus e. V.) and the Kaßberg Prison Learning and Memorial Centre (Lern- und Gedenkort Kaßberg-Gefängnis e. V.), will commemorate the 1953 popular uprising in the GDR at the memorial site, Kaßbergstraße 16c, the 1953 popular uprising in the GDR.

At the end of May, Josephine Hage and Annemarie Rieseler from Chemnitz 2025 as well as Ulf Kallscheidt and Sabine Fekete from the City of Chemnitz took part in the next knowledge transfer seminar of the "ECoC Echo" project. This time, the delegation travelled to Novi Sad in Serbia, the European Capital of Culture 2022.
