Anyone interested can visit the Adult Education Centre’s stand to discuss the courses on offer and their course preferences, and also pick up some small gifts.
Winter Term 2026
VHS Programme
In its 308-page comprehensive catalogue, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre is now also presenting its programme for the winter term, which begins on 7 September 2026, in printed form. The programme has been available online since 15 June 2026 at www.vhs-chemnitz.de.
Around 640 courses across six subject areas invite you to learn new things, explore your interests in greater depth and meet new people. The new title ‘Knowledge. Skills. Do.” says it all: the courses on offer in the winter semester impart useful knowledge in a practical and sustainable way. They address current topics and are geared towards trends.
Rediscover creativity
Whether with wood, flowers or humour – this winter semester, the Adult Education Centre invites you to discover new creative sides to yourself. For the first time, the programme includes courses in woodworking, floral art and a stand-up comedy workshop.
Those who’d rather create something practical for everyday life can make their own natural winter skincare products, such as lip balm or body butter. There’s also something new to discover in the culinary world: alongside family cookery courses, ‘Cooking like in a manga’ offers an extraordinary experience for fans of Japanese comics.
Living Consciously – Focus on Health
Health means more than just exercise – which is why the Adult Education Centre is expanding its programme and, with 22 new courses, is focusing on nutrition, mental health and self-care. To complement the popular yoga courses, the programme for the new term is enriched by short courses covering women’s health, self-care and periods of transition and change in life.
Experiencing languages and city history
With 25 foreign languages on offer, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre remains one of the most diverse language learning centres in the region. Alongside the return of Ukrainian and Ancient Hebrew, new course formats combine language and culture in a unique way: for example, participants can practise speaking Russian whilst cooking together and discover Slavic cuisine. Popular educational excursions are also back on the programme – including visits to the Medical History Collection at Chemnitz University Hospital, the Kaßberg Prison learning and memorial site, and the University Library. These offer fascinating insights into history, science and culture right on our doorstep.
Courses can be booked online or in person at the Adult Education Centre’s service desk at TIETZ during the current opening hours.
