Monday, 8 April
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig congratulates Superintendent Andreas Conzendorf on his 60th birthday.

Wednesday, 10 April
International Stefan Heym Prize 2013 of the City of Chemnitz:
- Invitation to a press conference with Mayor Barbara Ludwig and Christoph Hein, this year's winner of the International Stefan Heym Prize of the City of Chemnitz. Time and place: 14:15, State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz ("Schocken").

- Following the press conference at the Museum of Archaeology, the square in front of the building will be named Stefan-Heym-Platz.
Time and place: 3 pm, forecourt at the "Schocken".

- Ceremony for the awarding of the International Stefan Heym Prize of the City of Chemnitz 2013 to the writer Christoph Hein. Mayor Barbara Ludwig will give the keynote speech, the laudatory speech for the prizewinner will be given by the writer Ingo Schulze.
(Media representatives already received an invitation to the ceremony with a request for accreditation in PM 131 on 22 March 2013).

Press conference with Mayor Miko Runkel and ASR Operations Manager Manfred Wüpper to provide information about the spring cleaning campaign "For a clean Chemnitz".

Thursday, 11 April
International Stefan Heym Conference on 11 and 12 April 2013 in Chemnitz:
Mayor Barbara Ludwig opens the 2nd International Stefan Heym Conference together with TU Rector Arnold van Zyl, Friedrich Schorlemmer, patron of the conference, and Prof. Dr. Dr. Peter Hutchinson, President of the International Stefan Heym Society.
Guest of honour is the writer Christoph Hein, who will be honoured the evening before with the International Stefan Heym Prize 2013 of the City of Chemnitz.
The two-day public conference takes place on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Stefan Heym (1913 - 2001) and is themed "The Witness of the Century - Historiography and Historical Concepts in the Works of Stefan Heym".

Mayor Barbara Ludwig takes part in the association meeting of the Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (ZVMS).

Two-day scientific conference on the topic "Now what belongs together is growing together". The conference is organised in conjunction with the Baden-Württemberg state exhibition "Through Night to Light? History of the Labour Movement 1863 - 2013", is being organised with the support of the Technoseum and the University of Mannheim, Chemnitz University of Technology and the Otto Brenner Foundation. The exhibition will also make a stop in Chemnitz at the beginning of November 2013.

Winners of the nationwide competition "Active for Democracy and Tolerance 2012" from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia will be honoured at a festive event in Chemnitz. Eleven projects will be honoured. Mayor Barbara Ludwig will present the award to the Chemnitz project "Bündnis Bunter Brühl" (PM 151 from 04/04/2013).

Saturday, 13 April
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig will give a speech at the graduation ceremony to bid farewell to the graduates of the 2012 summer semester and the 2012/2013 winter semester at Chemnitz University of Technology.
Time and place: 10.30 a.m., TUC, Central Lecture Hall Building, Reichenhainer Straße 90, 09126 Chemnitz.

Chemnitz residents are invited to take part in the traditional spring cleaning campaign organised by the city council and the waste disposal and city cleaning company. The campaign, which has been postponed from 23 March to 13 April due to the weather, is once again taking place under the motto "For a clean Chemnitz" and under the patronage of Mayor Miko Runkel.
