One year of the standardised national public authority number 115 in Chemnitz

Service is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The 115 number in Chemnitz celebrated its birthday on 1 February: the nationwide public authority number has been in operation in Chemnitz for a year now, and was officially released and thus put into operation on 1 February 2012 with a symbolic call by the responsible mayor, Miko Runkel. Since then, all calls directed to the city of Chemnitz have been received via the 115 and via the city administration's central telephone number 488-0 in the Service Centre department of the city's Citizens' Office.

The 115 service is available Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm.

The service centre received a total of 93,253 calls in the period from 1 February to 31 December 2012: Of these, 115 was dialled 18,288 times and 15,606 of the 115 calls were answered by a clerk within just 30 seconds.

41 percent of all calls received by the service centre were answered directly in the service centre. The main areas of demand so far have been questions about applying for an ID card, passport and children's passport, information about the opening hours of the city administration's offices and citizen service centres, questions about obtaining information from the population register and registering a vehicle.

The service centre is also popular with citizens for information on seasonal and current topics and events - the range of questions is wide and includes, for example, information on the Chemnitz Peace Day as well as the Chemnitz Christmas market and the winter road clearance service.

Since the launch of 115 in Chemnitz, the service centre has also provided citizen-friendly administrative assistance for other authorities, answering citizens' enquiries about federal or state benefits, for example, or providing further information, such as how to change income tax class, land register extracts or simply how to reach the Chemnitz regional office of the Saxon Education Agency.

Since July 2012, the service centre has also been offering citizens the opportunity to request appointments via 115 - for example, for an appointment at the registration office or the building file archive (PM 607 from 10.10.2012 - www.chemnitz.de). This service offered by the service centre has already been well received by citizens: By the end of 2012, 450 appointments had been made for the registration office and 122 appointments for the building records archive.
