Chemnitz participatory budget - topics wanted

Chemnitz residents are invited to participate until 7 June - please send proposals to the steering group for the participatory budget by post, fax and telephone as well as on the platform buergerhaushalt.chemnitz.de

The second public participation phase of the participatory budget will start in autumn 2013. What are the people of Chemnitz interested in? What should be discussed in connection with the budget for 2014? - The steering group has already sought and compiled ideas for the topics of a new participation programme. However, before the steering group decides on the topic, it is important to know the opinions of the citizens: Which topic suggestions are interesting and which should not be implemented? Other suggestions are also welcome!

Participation is still possible online on the platform buergerhaushalt.chemnitz.de until Friday, 7 June 2013.
Citizens can also participate as follows:
by post: City of Chemnitz, Mayor's Office, 09106 Chemnitz,
by fax: 0371 488 1599,
by telephone: 0371 488 1570 and via the public authority telephone number D 115.

All information on participatory budgeting can be found at www.chemnitz.de here:

The current proposals relate to the following topics:

1. public green space maintenance As part of the participation process, the budgetary framework conditions can be presented in a comprehensible manner and the volume of tasks to be managed as well as current objectives can be presented. This in-depth information would be used to develop a participation programme with information and questions on the specific budget.

2. provision and operation of public playgrounds Participation in this topic would also be compiled on the basis of information on the budget and questions and discussions similar to topic 1.

3. traffic areas / mobility in relation to public footpaths and accessibility measures in public spaces, This topic relates to individual measures in the budget for traffic areas and facilities, public transport. Planned projects could be reported on and participation in them could be developed.

4. grants from the City of Chemnitz to clubs, associations and third parties A grant report was prepared for this topic area for the first time in 2012, which is available on the participatory budgeting platform. This shows the service areas and recipients subsidised by the City of Chemnitz.

More detailed information could be compiled on the individual subject areas and questions/discussions could be offered.

5 Overall municipal budget Information on the 2013 municipal budget can be found on the internet platform buergerhaushalt.chemnitz.de. Details of the profit and loss budget and investments are shown.
Which priorities can be seen in the budget? In which areas does the city raise and spend money? What is behind the figures in the budget planning? Where are investments made?
The 2014 draft budget could be prepared in a similar way and an open discussion on all areas of the municipal budget could be offered, but without focussing on a specific topic.
