District park at Pleißenbach
During the construction period: Alternative path connections through the Pleißenbach green corridor will be created
In order to provide alternative pedestrian routes through the Pleißenbach green corridor (former Altendorf goods station), the existing Am Stadtgut bridge will continue to be available for pedestrians until further notice. This will then enable a direct passage from Gutsweg to Limbacher Straße through the current construction site. Appropriate safety precautions will be taken to ensure that construction companies and pedestrians can co-exist as smoothly as possible. This pedestrian connection should be open by the end of October.
Another temporary route will be created in the vicinity of Erzbergerstraße by the end of November.
Information on when the two temporary solutions will be opened will be provided in good time.
The new viaduct between Limbacher Straße and Gutsweg (near the Pietschmann bakery) will be the future main path connection and should be open for use from spring 2025.
In addition to the renaturalisation of the watercourse, the design of open spaces and the creation of a new playground, the construction project also includes the reorganisation of the crossings. The bridge demolitions and new construction required for this are also planned in the various construction phases.
Since the end of 2021 and in recent months, the City of Chemnitz has provided information on the construction work on the "Pleißenbachgrünzug" intervention area for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 on several occasions, including various public information events and discussions with local residents.
