Why is the construction of the access to the main railway station from Dresdner Straße being delayed again?

As no companies took part in the tender for the construction project, it has to be put out to tender again. This has led to a considerable delay, which the city administration of Chemnitz very much regrets.


Will there be covered taxi waiting areas when the forecourt at the main station is remodelled?

As part of the remodelling of the station forecourt and the relocation of the bus station, there are currently plans to build covered bus and taxi stops.


Can the former school building on Frankenberger Straße be used as a school location again in the course of the growing demand?

The former school building on Frankenberger Straße is no longer owned by the City of Chemnitz. It will therefore not be possible to reactivate the school building.


In connection with the construction of the extension of the platform tunnel to Dresdener Straße and the design of the access, is the construction of a bicycle car park planned or can this be realised?

Protected parking facilities for bicycles are planned in connection with the construction of the new bus station on the station forecourt. Another location would also be conceivable at the new entrance on Dresdner Straße.


Are there plans to build more bicycle parking spaces throughout the city?

In the past 18 months, 350 new bicycle parking spaces have been built. Currently, 10 new parking spaces are being built each year.

Citizens and residents of the city of Chemnitz can report locations where parking spaces are needed and desired at any time.


On Zietenstraße, which as a through road has an increased volume of traffic, there has been an increased danger for cyclists and vehicles parked on the edge of the carriageway since the narrowing of the road.

The redesign of Zietenstrasse was requested by local residents and serves to calm traffic. Due to the narrowing of the road width, it is not possible to accommodate cyclists separately, which means that they have to ride in moving traffic. However, due to the reduction in speed to 30 km/h, sufficient road safety should be achieved. So far, there have been no complaints from citizens about this issue.


How should the transparency of the administration and citizen participation in decisions be improved?

The administration is currently examining how citizens can be involved more intensively and at an earlier stage in the decision-making process, e.g. for construction measures.

Such a participation process is currently being trialled for the playground concept and is also planned for the upcoming debate on the city's cultural strategy.

This topic will also be discussed by the city council this year.


The so-called Kanonenkugelhaus has a new owner, but the condition of the building has not been improved. What can the city do here?

There is no "new owner":
The owner is obliged to secure and maintain the cultural monument. This is currently guaranteed. Regular inspections are carried out by the planning permission office.

Could it happen that the planned anchor centre is opened in Chemnitz after all?

As far as we know, the anchor centre is planned for Dresden. The Chemnitz initial reception facility does not offer enough space to be used as an anchor centre. Furthermore, Chemnitz does not fulfil the infrastructural requirements needed for such a facility.

The neighbourhoods of Sonnenberg, Hilbersdorf and Ebersdorf are very dirty due to dog excrement. What is the city doing to improve cleanliness in these neighbourhoods?
Can the city council make it compulsory to carry dog waste bags and monitor their implementation and are there plans to install dog waste bag dispensers as part of the redesign of Rüdiger-Alberti-Park and in other public places?

Dogs leaving their droppings constitutes an administrative offence. These should be reported, although it is often difficult to identify the perpetrator. Dog owners who do not clean up after their dogs and are caught in the act are penalised as part of the patrols carried out by the city's public order service. Areas where this problem occurs more frequently can be reported to the Law and Order Office. The city's public order service will then increase its presence on site.

All dog owners are required to carry dog bags in accordance with the City of Chemnitz police regulations. In future, this could be monitored more closely by the city's public order service.

The existing dog bag dispensers have been dismantled due to vandalism. There are currently no plans to install them again.

Is it possible to change the route of route 51 and route it via the main railway station again?

On 10 December 2017, the route network was changed based on the local transport plan adopted by the city council. On 26 February 2018, minor changes and corrections were made to the timetables. Line 51 was also a topic of discussion at this time, but it was decided to examine it further and make a decision in late summer/autumn 2018. CVAG is now conducting a customer survey until 30.06.2018 at: CVAG.de/MM18, so that a decision can be expected following this, in close coordination with the civil engineering department.


What will happen to the pylon roof at the bus station? Will it possibly be demolished?

The pylon roof is a listed building. If the area on which the pylon roof is currently located is ever built on, it will have to be rebuilt at a different location.


Max-Saupe-Straße is in very poor condition and should be renovated.

A comprehensive renovation of the road is planned for 2019 and will be carried out in 3 construction phases.
