The footpaths on the Kaßberg are poorly cleared.

90% are the responsibility of residents. The crossings are difficult to keep clear. At crossings, external companies are mainly responsible for clearing.

Is it permitted to use de-icing salt?

De-icing salt may be used in exceptional cases. However, it must be removed afterwards.

People often drive too fast in the 30 km/h zone in the Flemming area.

Regular speed checks are carried out.

There are a lot of unleashed dogs on Alfons-Pech-Straße.

The city police will increase its patrols.

Day-care centres, parks and playgrounds are missing and are usually far away from each other. Play streets are also predominantly used by cars. The city is dominated by large roads, even around playgrounds/parks, so that children cannot play safely.

The city of Chemnitz has a playground concept that we are gradually implementing. There needs to be a dialogue between residents on how to behave in play streets so that the purpose (enabling children to play on the street) is achieved. We can only make limited changes to the city's road network.

What will happen with the Michaelstraße daycare centre?

The interior work is due to start at the end of 2020.
A concept is currently being drawn up for the daycare centre's outdoor facilities, which will show which project will be worked on in which order.

There is a lack of offers for senior citizens and some of the offers are not appealing. The presentation lists many offers of which we were not even aware. The club on Otto-Planer-Straße is doing a good job of organising its senior citizens' activities.

On the one hand, many offers are probably not known. On the other hand, there may not be the right offers. We would be very happy to talk about the various wishes for senior citizen programmes. We could work together with the Mitte-West citizens' platform on this.

There is the idea of setting up a trolley track in the area in conjunction with the exterior design of the trolley facility by young people (e.g. utilisation of scrap metal).

The idea is passed on to the Capital of Culture team.

There is a lack of shopping facilities and a bowling alley.

The supply options in the neighbourhood are always dependent on the commitment of business people. There are currently discussions about improving the facilities. This can also be used as a prelude to examining the realisation of other things, such as a bowling alley.

When will the Chemnitzer Siedlungsgemeinschaft eG (CSg) meeting centre be built?

The CSg is planning to build an event centre at Am Karbel 2a. On the ground floor, for example, a catering facility and a room for a variety of uses are to be set up. The building application has already been submitted. Construction is expected to start in 2020 and be completed in 2021. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the CSg.

There is a lack of bicycle racks at Flemming GS. Would it be possible to create bicycle racks at the school?

We would be happy to pass on the suggestion.

Expenditure on early help has increased enormously. What does the city want to do? Is the establishment of family centres in the city districts a solution?

Many preventative measures are already needed. The help should also be accompanied by services in the neighbourhoods. Another key to this is education and school-leaving qualifications.

We are currently setting up an education management system in the city of Chemnitz.

Offers must be better networked. To this end, it may also make sense to bring various programmes together under one roof.

Will the free museum visit day continue to be offered?

The programme will definitely continue next year. We will then have to check how the offer has been received. We hope to be able to continue offering it from 2021.

What is the situation for the Schlossgrundschule and its after-school care centre due to the hepatitis case?

Initially, the vaccination status had to be determined. Less than half of the children were vaccinated. From Thursday, lessons will be possible again on site for those who have already been vaccinated. After-school care has been organised for 60 children on site.

Pupils can return to school two weeks after the rapid vaccination programme.

From Monday, vaccination is also possible at the public health department. Unvaccinated children must stay at home for four weeks. If all pupils, teachers and educators were vaccinated, a short absence for disinfection would be sufficient at most. School has been running normally again since 2 December 2019. Individual pupils who have not been vaccinated still have to stay at home until 16 December 2019.

Are there still school escorts at the Schlossschule?

Although road safety has improved, there will still be two school crossing guards. Two positions have already been advertised. A suitable application has already been received. We are still endeavouring to fill the second position. We are looking into the possibility of advertising in the district newspaper "KaSch" that the city of Chemnitz is looking for school crossing guards.

The sauna in the municipal swimming pool should be made more attractive.

The sauna is not as attractive as we would like it to be. A complete refurbishment would require millions in investment. It is not yet possible to say when this will be available.

How is the 1st floor of the municipal pool used?

We are already considering the use of the first floor for activities.

Enrolment for aqua fitness classes is catastrophic.

We are aware of the problem. We are endeavouring to make the process more customer-friendly.

Could a cycling licence be introduced at primary school?

This offer already exists in primary schools.

What about the Flemmingstrasse children's and young people's emergency service?

A provider has already been found for new facilities to be set up elsewhere. There are to be two centres. We are currently looking for plots of land so that we can then start building. One plot has already been confirmed. A second location is missing and is currently still being sought. The Flemmingstraße site will only be closed after completion.

What is the situation regarding swimming pools in the city of Chemnitz?

In order to ensure the continued use of the required water areas, we cannot renovate several indoor swimming pools at the same time, as we always have to move the facilities to another building during the renovation phase. We are already in the construction realisation phase for the Bernsdorf hall. However, the construction decision is still pending. The city council has decided that the outdoor pool in Bernsdorf is to be renovated as part of the new construction of the swimming complex. The measures in the swimming pool complex in the Sportforum will take place after completion in Bernsdorf. This will be followed by the refurbishment of the indoor swimming pool at Südring.

What services are available for parents in the area of families receiving youth welfare?

There are many offers from the administration as well as from various providers, such as a network for early help, district managers, community coordinators, district pilots and family centres in the districts.

Efforts should be made to improve the process for the Kitaportal - central portal with decentralised allocation.

We will look at whether we can improve the process.

How are school places allocated?

The decision on enrolment comes from the city's education authority, but the decision is made by the State Office for Schools and Education. The city tries to make adjustments in the event of problems. The choice of primary school is linked to the primary school districts. Therefore, a school in the district must be chosen first.

Can Chemnitz University of Technology move some parts to the city centre to liven it up with students?

We hope that the opening of the university library will revitalise the city centre.

Is Chemnitz part of a Europe-wide project on multi-generational living?

There is a project group on the topic of housing forms for the future. Such forms of housing may also provide solutions in the areas of care and childcare.

There is a desire for networking in the neighbourhood.

What is the status of the digital pact?

We are initially investing 12.5 million euros. Every school has different requirements for implementation. Teachers also have to be able to deal with the new challenge.

The aim is for all schools and pupils in Chemnitz to benefit from the digital pact.

Is there an online portal where damage can be reported (e.g. roads, blocked locks)?

What are the conditions for footpaths to be usable for cyclists and pedestrians? Could the footpath around the castle pond be authorised for bicycles?

Certain regulations in traffic law apply here. However, separate use is favoured. A catalogue of points (pavement width, number of entrances, occupancy, etc.) is used to examine the use of pavements for cyclists. The civil engineering department will take this information on board and examine it. Further enquiries in this regard can be sent to radverkehr(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.

Will there be a cycle path connection in Altendorf via Matthesstraße as part of the remodelling of the Altendorf railway station site?

In this regard, an application for "fast cycle paths" has been submitted to the state of Saxony (Wüstenbrand - Küchwald connection). Corresponding plans are already being considered, including a continuation in the direction of Schloßteich and the reorganisation of stationary traffic.

Pedestrians and cyclists can only pass through Kaßberg in the evening. Can this be cancelled?

The Civil Engineering Office will take the matter on board and pass it on to the responsible construction company.

Is there already a cycle traffic officer?

The position has not yet been filled.

Will there also be residential development on the land acquired by the city on the Altendorf railway station site?

These areas will only be used to clear the Pleißenbach stream, for green spaces and cycle paths. All areas that can be built on have been sold by Deutsche Bahn to private parties.

When can a development plan be expected for the Altendorf railway station site and what types of building will be involved?

The drafts are currently in progress. The development plans will be presented to the planning committee between February and April 2020. Public participation will then take place in the Chemnitz official gazette. The aim is to obtain planning permission by the end of 2020.
Different types of housing are expected to be built.

Will the Steinwiese in the Flemming area be built on?

The owner is the Free State of Saxony. It has put the land up for sale. The application process for investors is still ongoing. More detailed information is expected in spring 2020. The development plan procedure and public relations work will then begin.

What will happen to the tower block on the corner of Zwickauer Straße and Reichsstraße?

This is private property. The owner intends to refurbish it and offer flats. The necessary documents are not yet complete, which is why no realisation date can be given.

The bridges on Rudolph-Krahl-Straße make a dilapidated impression. Will they be renovated and the cross-section widened, and if so, when?

The bridges mentioned are under observation as part of the annual inspection cycle. There are currently no plans to renovate the bridges in the City of Chemnitz's investment plan. The bridges will continue to be inspected, but an expansion of the cross-section is not planned.

What is the current status of the Hartmannstraße factory building and the nearby residential building on Hartmannstraße?

The new owner of the old Hartmann factory wants to start with a new concept. The building department will ask him for appropriate public relations work. As part of the expansion of the Chemnitz Model Stage 4 and the associated introduction of 2 railway tracks into Hartmannstraße, the street space will have to be adapted. The impact this will have on existing buildings must be regulated in the further planning.

Crossing Rudolph-Krahl-Straße is perceived as unsafe. Is it possible to minimise this through crossing facilities or traffic calming?

Reference is made here to a joint meeting with the Mitte-West citizens' platform on 18/11/2019 at the community centre on Leipziger Strasse to discuss the entire traffic concept.

The bridge on Beyerstrasse is in need of renovation. Is a temporary bridge planned?

The measure has been postponed due to construction work in the surrounding area and will not be realised in 2020. Other possible solutions are being examined.

There is only one dog meadow on Kaßberg. Are there other options for dog meadows, e.g. at Andréplatz?

A public needs assessment for dog meadows is running until 30 November 2019. Interested parties can contact the Bürgerplattform Mitte-West (0371/33 50 520) or the head of the Parks Department, Mr Börner.

A bridge is missing on Erzberger Straße.

As something new is to be built in the area, new traffic needs and new routes are also developing. The entire traffic concept needs to be considered here and, for example, a sensible connection between the Flemming area and Limbacher Straße needs to be examined, as does the future function of a bridge.

There are many parked cars on Rudolph-Krahl-Straße. Will parking spaces be created for residents in the future?

The housing co-operatives are taking the issue on board. New car parks will be created as part of the construction work.

A new day care centre is being built on Louis-Braille-Straße. How will the expected increase in traffic and the parking situation due to additional parked vehicles during pick-up and drop-off times be managed? And how will the transport links be organised?

The daycare centre is being built by an independent provider. Approval planning has been submitted. The building permit office and the civil engineering office/traffic authority are currently checking the feasibility and will arrange for planning changes (possibly widening of the access road) if necessary.

What is the status of the Edeka on Ulmenstraße?

A building application has been submitted.

How long will the temporary traffic lights at the Rottluff motorway exit remain in place?

The temporary traffic light system (traffic lights) is currently being replaced by a permanent system. The necessary work will continue depending on the weather. Once the permanent traffic lights are in operation, the temporary system will be dismantled. A specific date cannot be given at present.

Should more trees be planted in the city or just preserved?

The tree population is to be expanded. Most of the problems are caused by the media in the streets (i.e. cables under pavements or along roadsides). It is also being examined which species should be favoured.

Will the speed limit of 80 km/h remain in place on the A72 motorway?

Motorways are the responsibility of the federal government.

The path between Barbarossastrasse and Ulmenstrasse is only open to pedestrians, but is used by cyclists in contravention of traffic regulations. Is it possible to supplement the signage with an additional "Cyclists dismount" sign?

The path along Zwickauer Straße between Barbarossastraße and Ulmenstraße mentioned by the citizen is managed by the Parks Department. The green space regulations therefore apply to this area/path. It is therefore not possible for the traffic authority to order official signage. It should be noted that along Zwickauer Straße, on the section of road in question, there is a compulsory cycle lane, which must therefore also be used by cyclists.

Proposal for a play street sign in the Buchenwaldsiedlung and invitation to an on-site meeting

The lower traffic authority has not issued an order for a traffic-calmed area or a play street. In this respect, the criticism from the residents' meeting that this was cancelled following a construction measure cannot be understood. The Buchenwaldsiedlung is part of a 30 km/h zone. No further measures are planned.
