YouthArtTriennial 2012 of the Saxon-Bavarian network of cities: award winners announced

From 15 September 2012 to 28 October 2012, the 2012 Youth Art Triennial of the Saxon-Bavarian City Network will be presented in the rooms of the Neue Sächsische Galerie in the basement of the TIETZ. On display are works by 141 young artists aged 14-25 from the cities of Chemnitz, Zwickau, Plauen, Hof and Bayreuth. The works were selected from a total of 333 submissions by an expert jury chaired by the freelance artist Frank Maibier from Chemnitz. The majority are paintings and graphic works, but sculptures, photographs and films can also be discovered. All of the exhibits are characterised by a remarkable quality of artistic execution and a wide range of themes.

The young people who took part in the JugendKunstTriennale competition and are now represented in the exhibition with one or two works following the selection process have successfully demonstrated their creative abilities. Among the participants, those who were honoured with one of the 26 prizes on offer can be particularly proud.

A catalogue featuring all the exhibited works will be published in time for the opening of the JugendKunstTriennale. Intended primarily for the participants to document and remember, it also represents an additional promotion measure for young visual art in the urban network area. The organisers hope that this will provide young people with material to show off.

The exhibition can be visited during the opening hours of the Neue Sächsische Galerie. Admission is free.
