Youth court assistance renamed youth assistance in criminal proceedings

New name for proven support from 1 April

As of today, the youth court assistance of the Chemnitz Youth Welfare Office is now called Youth Assistance in Criminal Proceedings. This renaming emphasises even more clearly the central role of youth welfare services in criminal proceedings involving young people.

The new name reflects the long-standing task of supporting young people on their journey, recognising social problems and providing offers of help. The aim of supporting young people and adolescents who have committed offences in their development and showing them prospects for a future free of crime remains unchanged.

The new name emphasises that it is not a judicial body, but a socio-educational support service that assists young people in difficult life situations.

The seven employees of the youth welfare service in criminal proceedings continue to work closely with courts, public prosecutors' offices and other institutions to find individual and sustainable solutions for young people.
