Tree planting campaigns in Rödelwald and Glösa forest
Anyone interested can lend a hand: on 16 and 23 November, from 10 a.m. each day
On 16 and 23 November, interested parties are invited to take part in tree planting campaigns. The two-hour campaigns in Rödelwald on 16 November and in Glösaer Wald on 23 November will both start at 10 a.m. and will take place as part of the "Living Neighbourhood" project of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
On Saturday, 16 November, trees will be planted in Rödelwald Klaffenbach. The meeting point is at 10 a.m. on the border path above the Rödelwald forest (coordinates: 50.751749422182264, 12.897766198766892).
In this joint campaign organised by the City of Chemnitz Parks Department and the Klaffenbach local council, former spruce areas that have died due to drought and bark beetle infestation will be planted with relatively small (bare-rooted) forest plants (sessile oak, hornbeam, winter lime, mountain elm, bird cherry, etc.).
Participants are asked to register: either by telephone on 0371 2607017, by email to rathaus(at)chemnitz-klaffenbach.de or during the local chairman's office hours at Klaffenbach town hall.
On Saturday, 23 November, the planting campaign will take place in the Glösa forest, organised by the Green Space Office together with the Chemnitz-Nord Citizens' Platform. The meeting point is at 10 a.m. on Chemnitzer Straße near the street An der Kinderwaldstätte (coordinates: 50.89273110508492, 12.946663345564447). Participants are asked to register at kommunalwald(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.*
As in Klaffenbach, former spruce areas in the Glösa forest that have died due to drought and bark beetle infestation are to be planted with relatively small (bare-rooted) forest plants (pedunculate oak, hornbeam, winter lime, field maple, bird cherry, etc.).
Participants should wear weatherproof clothing (sturdy shoes) and bring work gloves. The necessary planting equipment and materials will be provided by the Parks Department, which will be on site with several employees.
