Traffic restrictions for Chemnitz Peace Day on 5 March
Objective: Traffic flow should be affected as little as possible - Day-care centres and schools informed in advance - Up-to-date information via the Internet and citizens' telephones.
Due to the events and demonstrations for the Chemnitz Peace Day next Wednesday, 5 March, there will be traffic restrictions in the afternoon and evening. This applies in particular around the authorised demonstration routes. However, the aim of all those involved is to minimise disruption to the flow of traffic. A total of ten assemblies, events and processions have been registered in Chemnitz on 5 March.
Kapellenberg area from 1 pm
- Stollberger Straße to Lützowstraße
- Stollberger Straße inland to Katharinenstraße
- Goethestraße in the direction of Goetheplatz after Neefestraße
- Herderstraße in the direction of Goetheplatz after the pedestrian crossing
Reichenhainer Straße area from 16:30
- Reichenhainer Straße between Bernsbachplatz and Wartburgstraße or Dittesstraße
- Altchemnitzer Straße in the direction of Südbahnhof after Lothringer Straße
- Elsasser Straße between Lothringer Straße and Reichenhainer Straße
Kapellenberg area from 5 pm
- Zwickauer Straße between Lützowstraße and Reichsstraße on both sides
- Neefestraße towards the city centre from Lützowstraße on both sides
- Stollberger Straße towards the city centre from Usti nad Labem Street to Lützowstraße
- Barbarossastrasse, Ulmenstrasse and Michaelstrasse before Zwickauer Strasse
- Parkstraße before Stollberger Straße
Please observe the stopping restrictions required in the residential areas and already signposted on Wednesday from 6 am to 11 pm. The following streets and squares are affected by the stopping bans:
From 6 a.m.
- Station forecourt
- Car park at the Johanniskirche (long-term parkers remain)
- Elsasser Straße between Lothringer Straße and Reichenhainer Straße
- Görrestraße, Südbahnstraße
- Fraunhofer Straße between Reichenhainer Straße and Turnstraße
- Turnstraße between Reichenhainer Straße and Fraunhofer Straße
Reichenhainer Straße area from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Reichenhainer Straße towards the city centre between Altchemnitzer Straße and TU
- Dittesstraße
Kapellenberg area from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Lützowstraße between Neefestraße and Irkutsker Straße
- Lützowstraße between Neefestraße and railway bridge
- Haydnstraße between Neefestraße and Stollberger Straße
- Neefestraße between Haydnstraße and Katharinenstraße
- Goethestraße between Martha-Schrag-Straße and Goetheplatz
- Herderstraße between Goetheplatz and Parkstraße
CVAG will endeavour to operate as close to the closed sections as possible and for as long as possible during the closures necessitated by the events and demonstrations.
As far as we know at present, there will be the following restrictions on transport services:
- Tram line 4 will be cancelled from around 16:30. A shuttle service will be offered between "Hutholz" and "Am Flughafen".
- Tram line 1 will be cancelled between 7 p.m. and approx. 9:30 p.m.
- City bus route 31 will be diverted in both directions via Zwickauer Straße ... Reichsstraße ... Weststraße.
- City bus route 23 will be shortened between Heinersdorf and the central bus stop from around 5.00 pm. The last departures from Neefepark in the direction of the city centre will be covered by available buses.
- City bus route 43 will be diverted via C.- Hamel-Str. from approx. 7 pm due to the closure of Lützowstraße.
- City bus route 51 will be diverted via Bernsdorfer Straße/Wartburgstraße between 16:30 and 17:30 due to the closure of Reichenhainer Straße.
- City bus route 22 will be diverted via G.-Freytag-Straße/ Annaberger Str. between 16:30 and 17:30 due to closures in the Südbahnhof area.
- The last two departures from Neefepark (Li.23) will be guaranteed.
- Further operational changes are possible at any time.
All facilities located in the assembly area have been informed and have asked parents to pick up their children by 4 pm on this day if possible. As in the previous year, children who cannot be collected until after 4 pm will attend another daycare centre in the afternoon with a teacher.
