On Monday, 30 March, from 6 pm, interested parties are invited to the opening of the exhibition "Together we are unbearable. The independent women's movement in the GDR" at the adult education centre, course room 4.07 in the TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20.

The travelling exhibition tells the story of a social movement in a dictatorship in four chapters on 24 panels. For the first time in this form, the non-governmental GDR women's movement is presented from the perspective of its protagonists.
From 1980 onwards, women in the GDR came together in informal circles. From the very beginning, many criticised the situation of women in everyday life in the GDR and questioned the state doctrine that women had achieved equal rights. A nationwide movement developed. In the democratic awakening of 1989 and 1990, its protagonists sat at the round tables and demanded a gender-equal society.
The exhibition by the Agentur für Bildung, Geschichte und Politik e.V. can be seen until 24 April in the foyer of the fourth floor of the adult education centre in the TIETZ.
