On Monday, 11 May at 6 pm, interested parties are invited to a panel discussion on empirical research into attitudes that threaten democracy and the current findings of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation's Mitte Study 2024/2025. The event will take place in course room 4.07 of the adult education centre at TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20.
Participation in the event is free of charge. Registration is possible online under the link to the event. The event will be organised as a hybrid event, i.e. online participation is also possible. The access data will be sent by e-mail after registration on the day of the event.
Every two years, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung's representative "Centre Studies" provide information on the prevalence, development and background of right-wing extremist, misanthropic and anti-democratic attitudes in Germany. The 2025 edition, entitled "The Tense Centre", looks at the normalisation of right-wing extremist positions in times of global uncertainty.
The study identifies key social tipping points and analyses how individual political issues are used as a tool to spread and trivialise far-right positions. On this evening, the editor Franziska Schröter will present the scientific survey methods and the results of the study. The subsequent panel discussion will be moderated by Dr André Fleck.
The event is a co-operation between the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Sachsen and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
