From Tuesday 1 September, the certification of documents authorising the carriage of narcotics (e.g. strong painkillers) whilst travelling, issued by the City of Chemnitz’s Office for Health and Prevention, will only be available by prior appointment.
Appointments can be booked via the participation portal of the City of Chemnitz’s Public Health Service. Residents are asked to book an appointment well in advance of their trip.

This regulation applies to the certification of certificates authorising the carrying of controlled substances during medical treatment, provided that the certificate has been issued by a doctor practising in Chemnitz.
Background
Medically prescribed narcotics may only be carried in reasonable quantities as personal travel provisions for the duration of a journey (maximum 30 days) when crossing borders. Those affected are obliged to present a certificate from the prescribing doctor, certified by the Public Health Authority.
The narcotic drugs may only be carried by the person to whom they were prescribed.
