Survey on the cycling climate in Chemnitz

Participation possible online until 15 October 2021 - Accompanying the CITY CYCLING 2021

An online survey has started today and will run until 15 October to find out more about the cycling climate in Chemnitz and to gather the personal impressions and experiences of participants in cycling. It accompanies the City Cycling campaign, which starts on Monday and in which the city of Chemnitz is participating for the first time this year.

The background to this is the thesis that, on the one hand, the bicycle has great potential in Chemnitz as an environmentally friendly mobility alternative, especially for short journeys, but on the other hand, this potential has not yet been utilised, or only insufficiently so. In addition, topics such as the safety of children, young people and adults on the city's cycle paths should also be brought into focus.

For this reason, the Healthy Chemnitz working group, together with the public health department, supported by the environmental department and in coordination with the city of Chemnitz's civil engineering department, is working with the professorships for "Sports Medicine and Biology", "Operational Environmental Economics and Sustainability" and "Environmental Economics and Sustainability".The City of Chemnitz, supported by the Environmental Agency and in coordination with the professorships of "Sports Medicine and Biology", "Corporate Environmental Economics and Sustainability" and "Social Science Perspectives on Sport, Exercise and Health Promotion" at Chemnitz University of Technology, conducted a survey to record personal impressions and experiences on the subject of cycling.

Based on the findings of the working groups at Chemnitz University of Technology, corresponding proposals and recommendations for action for (inner-)urban mobility management, urban and transport planning and street design are to be derived. In addition, corresponding target group and competence-orientated knowledge offers, information materials and measures in the areas of mobility and environmental education are to be developed for the city of Chemnitz.

Participation in the online survey, which can be found on the city's participation portal, takes around 15 minutes. All data is collected anonymously.
