Service information: When open - when closed?

City administration
The city administration offices will be closed on 24 and 31 December. On 27 and 28 December, the offices and citizen service points will hold regular office hours. The Am Wall citizen service centre will also be open on Saturday 29 December from 9 am to 1 pm for general services as well as registration and passport services. The AIDS advice centre at the public health department will be closed from 21 December to 2 January.

Swimming pools
On Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, only the municipal swimming pool will be open from 9 am to 3 pm. Last admission to the swimming pool is one hour before closing time, last admission to the sauna is always two hours before closing time.

Game park/animal park
Zoo and wildlife park: Both facilities will once again welcome visitors on 24 December and 31 December with special opening hours: Tierpark: 9am to 2pm, last admission 1pm; Wildgatter: 8am to 2pm.
The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from November to February and the game reserve from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from October to March.

Service information: Snow clearance and public transport

Who has to clear snow: The municipal winter road clearance service is responsible for public carriageways. Roads and sections of road are categorised according to specific traffic conditions, traffic importance and danger. Around 1,000 clearing kilometres are currently categorised as a traffic-critical network, which must always be maintained as a matter of priority during rush hour.
This also ensures the operation of the CVAG bus route network, for example. The ASR is also responsible for winter road maintenance on a further 300 kilometres of public roads downstream of the priority network.

And the city is responsible for the pavements of the streets designated as cleaning class "W" in the street cleaning statutes, while the owners of the properties accessed by public roads are responsible for all other pavements.

Snow must be cleared immediately after the end of the snowfall and slippery conditions must be gritted immediately after they occur. As far as possible, snow must be stored on the boundary between the pavement and the carriageway.
In the event of snowfall or icy conditions after 8 pm, property owners must fulfil their obligation by 7 am, on Sundays and public holidays by 9 am. Road salt may not be used on Chemnitz pavements.

Public transport on public holidays: Christmas Eve, 24 December: Buses and trams run until around 3 pm as on Saturdays. Rendezvous at the central stop will be every 30 minutes from 3.15 pm to 6.15 pm, then every 60 minutes until 11.15 pm. Night-time connections are organised from 23:45 to 3:45 every 60 minutes with the night lines N11 to N18 at the central stop.
Christmas holidays, 25 and 26 December: The timetables for Sunday apply.
Between the public holidays from 27 to 30 December 2012, buses and trams will run according to the normal timetable for the respective day (no school trips).
New Year's Eve, 31 December: Buses and trains run as on Saturdays until 19:45. Afterwards, there will be rendezvous every 60 minutes at the central stop until 22:45. After that, the service is suspended.
New Year's Day, 1 January 2013: From 0:45 to 3:45 a.m., rendezvous will be offered every 30 minutes on the light rail lines 1, 2, 4 and 5 as well as on bus lines 21, 31, 41, 51 (between Reichenhain and Klinik Bethanien), 22, 32, 62, 72, 23 and 33 at the central stop.
