On Thursday, 8 October, all interested residents of Chemnitz are invited to the second residents’ meeting of the year. In the first part of the meeting, Lord Mayor Sven Schulze, the Mayor and the other mayors will provide an update on current developments, events and key projects. As usual, no registration is required to attend the residents’ meeting.
Afterwards, from around 6 pm, participants will have the opportunity to raise their concerns with the city administration and individual city officials and engage in discussion.
Once again, two guided tours of the town hall will be offered. These start at 3.30 pm and take visitors through the old and new town halls, as well as up the tower. Participation is free of charge. However, as places are limited, registration via the City of Chemnitz’s participation portal is required.
Accessibility
The event is once again designed to be as accessible as possible; sign language interpreters will therefore be present during the first part. The event rooms on the first and second floors are accessible by lift. The lift is equipped with a bilingual audio announcement system and control buttons featuring Braille.
Getting there
The Town Hall can be reached via most of the city’s bus and tram routes; alight at the ‘Zentralhaltestelle’ or ‘Roter Turm’ stops. Parking is available, amongst other places, in the car park at Getreidemarkt and in the numerous multi-storey car parks in the city centre (subject to a charge). There are two free parking spaces for people with disabilities at the rear of the Town Hall.
