Press conference with Mayor Petra Wesseler on the launch of the City of Chemnitz's participatory budget and the topic of bridge and road repairs.

Children's representative Karin Genkel is once again organising three events for the City of Chemnitz's annual children and youth conference in November: For 5 November, pupils in grades 8 to 12, for 19 November, pupils in grades 3 and 4 and for 26 November, pupils in grades 5 to 7 (PM 712 from 30.10.2013).
Time and place: 3 p.m. in each case, Chemnitz City Hall, City Council Chamber.
Note for the media: Please take into account in your publications that the monthly citizens' meeting with Mayor Barbara Ludwig will have to be cancelled in November due to her schedule (PM 708 dated 30.10.2013).
Wednesday, 6 November
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig accepts the invitation to a panel discussion in the programme of the "People Shape Sustainability" congress.
The event is organised by the Saxon State Ministry for the Environment and Agriculture and the Saxon Hans von Carlowitz Society. The occasion is the 300th anniversary of sustainability in Saxony.

Friday, 8 November
Mayor Barbara Ludwig speaks at the City of Chemnitz's commemorative event in memory of the victims of the pogrom night of 9 November 1938 (PM 715 from 01.11.2013). Following the memorial event, a stumbling block for Hermann Fürstenheim will be laid in front of the TIETZ building.
Time and place: 10 am, stele at Stephanplatz.
Festive event for the awarding of the "Hot Potato" communication and business prize to Dr Peter Seifert. The award honours the strong commitment of the former and long-serving mayor of Chemnitz to successful local politics with an impact far beyond the city's borders. The laudatory speech for Peter Seifert will be held by the Mayor of Chemnitz, Barbara Ludwig.
This is the 21st time that the Central German Press Club in Leipzig has honoured Peter Seifert.

Saturday, 9 November
Mayor Philipp Rochold opens the 4th Chemnitz Education Fair with information for pupils and parents. In addition to eleven municipal secondary schools and seven municipal grammar schools, the Waldorf School, the Protestant School Centre and the Montessori School will once again be taking part in the fair (PM 711 from 30.10.2013).
Time and place: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Orangery in the TUC's central lecture theatre building, Reichenhainer Straße 90.
Mayor Barbara Ludwig will give a welcome address at the opening of the 12th Werkkunstmarkt. This year, 45 exhibitors from all over Germany, including numerous artisans and designers from Chemnitz, are taking part in the sales exhibition for arts and crafts and design.

Premiere of "Romeo and Juliet on Abbey Road" in a text version by theatre director Carsten Knödler, who is also responsible for the production of the musical based on Shakespeare. Steffan Claußner is the musical director. The musical premiered at the Gerhart Hauptmann Theatre Görlitz-Zittau in the 2011/12 season and will now be performed at Schauspiel Chemnitz with a partially new cast.
