Planning steps decided for civil engineering measures in the coming year
At its meeting today, the city council decided to initiate the necessary planning steps for a total of 14 civil engineering measures.
Am Wartburghof/Thüringer Weg
In this area, there is an urgent need for action to replace the drinking water pipe, which is prone to faults. The ESC wants to rebuild the sewerage system in this area. The roads and pavements are to be renewed at the same time. The roads are currently still paved and are to be replaced with asphalt. The coordinated construction work by inetz, ESC and the civil engineering department is intended to minimise the impact on local residents. The total sum for the municipal part of the measure amounts to 400,000 euros. Construction is scheduled to start in July next year and is expected to be completed in May 2019.
Promenadenstraße from Müllerstraße to Seumestraße
There is an urgent need for action to replace the fault-prone drinking water pipe in Promenadenstrasse. At the same time, inetz GmbH is also planning to build a new gas pipeline. In this area of Promenadenstrasse, the ESC requires measures to be taken on the combined sewerage system. Sections of the road and pavement are in poor condition and are also to be renewed.
Due to the scope of the upcoming civil engineering work, the necessary measures on the road and pavement (adjacent to the buildings) are to be determined and implemented in coordination with inetz and the ESC. A road renewal in the course of the above-mentioned civil engineering measures is also a continuation of the renewal measures in the area around the castle pond. The pavement on the side of the pond between Müllerstraße and E.-Schmidt-Straße was already extended this year. The total cost of the project is 460,000 euros. Construction is scheduled to start in July next year and end in May 2019.
Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße
In Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße, there is an urgent need for action to replace the fault-prone drinking water pipe. The ESC has also indicated the need to rebuild the sewerage system in these areas. The roads and pavements are also in a poor condition. It is therefore planned to renew Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße in the section from Zschopauer Straße to Bernsdorfer Straße as part of a coordinated civil engineering project between inetz, ESC and the civil engineering office.
The scope of the carriageway renovation can only be determined once the subsoil has been analysed. It is currently assumed that the road will be upgraded in several layers. The total sum for the municipal part of the project amounts to 550,000 euros. Construction is scheduled to start in July next year and end in October 2019.
Scheffelstraße
There is an urgent need for action to renew the carriageway in Scheffelstraße. The ESC has also indicated the need to rebuild the sewerage system in these areas. As the pavements are also in a poor condition, it is planned to renew individual sections as part of a coordinated construction project. The total sum for the municipal part of the project amounts to 402,500 euros. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2019 and end in December 2019.
Beyerstrasse in the section from Limbacher Strasse to Paul-Jäckel-Strasse
In Beyerstrasse, there is an urgent need for action to replace the drinking water pipe, which is prone to faults. As the roads and pavements are in a poor condition, it is planned to renew Beyerstrasse in the section from Limbacher Strasse to Paul-Jäckel-Strasse as part of a coordinated civil engineering project by inetz and the civil engineering department. The costs for the municipal share amount to around 386,000 euros. The construction work is scheduled to last from April to October 2019.
Vetterstraße in the Wartburgstraße - Dittesstraße section
Extensive renovation work is required by the utility companies in this section. The drinking water and gas pipes, the electricity supply and the sewerage system are to be replaced. As the road and pavements are also in a poor condition, it is planned to renew them in two construction phases as part of the coordinated construction project. The roads are currently still paved, which is to be replaced with asphalt. The costs of the measure for the municipal share amount to 1.2 million euros. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2019 and end in June 2020.
Bahnhofstraße, Brückenstraße/Augustusburger Straße junction
In 2019, CVAG is planning extensive track construction work in the area of Bahnhofstraße and at the junction of Brückenstraße and Augustusburger Straße. It is planned to renew the track triangle at the Chemnitz State Museum of Archaeology and the track bends from Bahnhofsstraße to Brückenstraße and Augustusburger Straße. A construction track is to be built to maintain railway traffic.
In the course of this measure, all road construction measures necessary in the construction area are to be carried out. This includes the renewal of the road surface, adjustments in the peripheral areas, preparations for the development of future buildings and consideration of future traffic situations. Planning funds are required for the further preparation of the measure in order to prepare the measure together with CVAG and to determine and plan the necessary measures.
The necessary construction funds from 2019 are not yet included in the current budget and must be taken into account in the next biennial budget 2019/2020. The planning funds currently amount to 100,000 euros.
Bornaer Straße roundabout
The kerbs, crossing aids and carriageway are to be renewed at the roundabout on Bornaer Straße/Blankenburgstraße. The costs amount to 230,000 euros, including 150,000 euros in subsidies. The construction work is scheduled to run from July to December 2018.
Gablenzbach culvert (Am Schösserholz)
The culvert is severely damaged and can no longer guarantee a regulated flow in the event of flooding. This poses a potential risk to the road area and upstream properties in the event of flooding. The culvert is therefore to be renewed. The costs amount to €255,000, of which €210,000 will be registered for categorisation in the next two-year budget for 2019/2020. The work is scheduled to begin in February 2020 and be completed in July 2020.
Pipework for Wiesenbach in the Grüna business park
The piped Wiesenbach stream is located beneath the Grüna business park. In the course of the waterway inspection, the environmental agency found that the pipes are very badly damaged and need to be partially replaced. Due to the state of damage, the only way to ensure proper water drainage is to completely replace the pipes. The costs amount to 1.03 million euros, of which 950,000 euros will be registered for categorisation in the next biennial budget for 2019/2020. The construction work is scheduled to begin in July 2019 and be completed in October 2020.
Bank retaining wall on the Wittgensdorfer Bach below Unterer Hauptstraße 138 to 146
In the above-mentioned area, the bank retaining wall to the Wittgensdorfer Bach stream is 35 metres long. Loose wall structure, bulges, defects and tree ingrowth mean that renovation is required. The costs amount to 217,000 euros, of which 175,000 euros will be registered for categorisation in the next two-year budget plan 2019/2020. The construction work is scheduled to last from July to December 2019.
Bank retaining wall on the Kappelbach behind Kappelbachgasse 13 to 1.
In the above-mentioned area, there is a 230 metre long bank retaining wall along the Kappelbach. This also partially secures private properties. The bank retaining wall is considerably damaged due to cracks, break-outs and ingrowths. Replacement is absolutely essential. According to a rough cost estimate, the measure will cost a total of 2,390,000 euros, of which 45,000 euros have been secured for preliminary planning in the current budget. Construction is scheduled to start in July 2022 and end in July 2024.
Bridge over the Pleißenbach
The bridge (BW 14.26) over the Pleißenbach on Limbacher Straße between Schillergasse and Am Eichenhof is to be renewed. As part of the flood damage repair work, a new access route will be realised in conjunction with the replacement of the bridge at Limbacher Straße 13 and the bridge structure (BW 14.25) in the immediate vicinity will be removed. The new development will then take place via structure 14.26, among others, which is to be renewed in this context so that both measures can be carried out in a coordinated manner. The costs amount to around 328,000 euros. Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2018 and end in December 2018.
Vladimir-Sagorsky Street junction
Due to the structural condition of the Wladimir-Sagorski-Straße pedestrian subway at Robert-Siewert-Straße, there is an urgent need for action as part of the road safety obligation. The structural repair of the structure no longer makes sense from an economic point of view. Furthermore, the existing facilities cannot be made barrier-free in accordance with the applicable regulations. The pedestrian subway is therefore to be dismantled. In order to ensure a crossing of Wladimir-Sagorski-Straße at Robert-Siewert-Straße, the junction needs to be reconstructed in the same way as Burkhardtsdorfer Straße. The rough cost estimate amounts to 835,000 euros, of which the preliminary planning funds are included in the current budget. Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2020 and end in December 2020.
