Participatory bet: 1000 x fair breakfast
Call from the Environmental Centre: Organise a fair breakfast by 27 September and register the number of participants
In order to make the world a fairer place together, the Chemnitz Environmental Centre* is calling for a join-in bet: 1,000 people in Central Germany should organise a fair climate breakfast by 27 September and immediately report the number of participants with the subject "fair breakfast" by email to info(at)faire-welt-chemnitz.de.
Whether at home, at work, at school or with friends: anyone can take part. You can also share a breakfast photo with the hashtag #fairesfrühstückchemnitz and #FairInMitteldeutschland on social media.
Fair products for the breakfast table start with the tablecloth and crockery and range from food, such as tropical and dried fruit, chocolate spread, peanut cream and honey, to drinks, such as coffee, cocoa, tea and fruit juices made from tropical fruit.
The joint bet is organised by Eine Welt Netzwerk Thüringen e. V., Eine Welt Netzwerk Sachsen-Anhalt e. V., F.A.I.R.E., Fairtrade Town Freiberg, Cambio e. V. and the local representatives of Fairtrade Town Chemnitz including FAIREwelt Chemnitz.
Background
The city of Chemnitz has been part of the global network of Fairtrade Towns since 2020 and regularly organises campaigns to raise awareness of fair trade. So-called sensitive products such as coffee, chocolate, clothing, tropical fruit, gold or cut flowers are often produced and processed in countries of the Global South under inhumane conditions. Fair trade helps to improve the living and working conditions of farmers and factory workers and to protect the local environment.
In the Fairtrade City of Chemnitz steering group, a wide range of committed people work together to organise themed events, consultations and campaigns. In exchanges with other Fairtrade cities, supra-regional formats for raising awareness of fairer trade are also planned.
