Parking fee exemption for electric and car-sharing vehicles in Chemnitz city centre will be abolished from 2024
From 1 January, the overnight transfer of parking ticket validity also applies
On 31 December 2023, the regulation that electric vehicles (within the meaning of the Electric Mobility Act) and car-sharing vehicles are partially exempt from the obligation to pay fees in the parking management zones in Chemnitz city centre will end.
In November 2021, the city council approved the regulation, including its time limit until 31 December 2023 (see press release 813 of 8 December 2021).
At the end of the year, the tariff signs on the parking ticket machines will be changed accordingly.
The exemption from charges for residents with a valid resident parking permit will not be affected by this change and will continue to apply.
Transfer of the overnight parking ticket validity period
From 1 January 2024, the overnight parking ticket validity period will also be transferred. In April, the city council decided (BA-007/2023) that the municipal parking machines would be converted so that the validity period of a parking ticket purchased in the evening would be carried over to the next day with the corresponding remaining amount after the end of the chargeable period.
