On the way to the 5th German Music Festival in Chemnitz

There will not be enough parking spaces in Chemnitz city centre. The city recommends that all participants, visitors and Chemnitz residents use public transport to get to their music experience.

Travel quickly and safely to the venues by bus and train

During the music festival, Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG is expanding its public transport services. Among other things, it is planned to increase the number of journeys on all four days on all light rail lines and the centre-related bus lines 21, 22, 31, 32, 41, 51, 62 and 72.

From 8.30 a.m., CVAG will run at the usual frequency on working days, regardless of whether it is a Sunday, public holiday, Saturday or school-free Friday. This frequent service not only runs until 6 pm as usual, but until 8.45 pm. After that, CVAG offers the Rendezvous at the central stop every 20 minutes until 10.45 pm and continues to run every half hour until midnight. For night owls, the night bus lines are available from midnight. Line 22, which otherwise only runs every 20 minutes from Chemnitzer Straße, also runs every 10 minutes between Chemnitzer Straße and the central bus stop.

In addition, shuttle buses will be available on all days to take visitors from specially designated P+R areas to the city centre, where the majority of the events will take place. To ensure a fast connection between Chemnitz Trade Fair Centre and the city centre, CVAG has set up a 5-minute service on tram line 1.

Event ticket for two days

There is a particularly favourable fare offer especially for the music festival. In Zone 13 (City of Chemnitz), day tickets in price level 1 are valid for one to five people on not just one, but two consecutive days in the period from 9 to 12 May 2013. The first day of validity is the day of validation or the day of sale of validated tickets.

Please also note the publications in the local media as well as the information on the Internet at www.cvag.de and via the service staff or the displays in the mobility centre at the central bus stop.

The Mobility Centre will have extended opening hours from 9 to 12 May 2013 (Thursday to Saturday until 10 pm, Sunday until 8 pm) and can be contacted on 0371/2370333.

In addition to local public transport, a total of 92 taxi ranks will be set up in the city centre and 7 additional ranks at the Chemnitz Exhibition Centre.

P+R: Park your car and continue your journey by bus and train

Over 10,000 free P+R parking spaces are available in the shopping centres for those arriving by car. These have attractive connections to the CVAG bus and train lines. Shuttle buses are also available.

CVAG has staff at all P+R sites and also at Chemnitz Central Station and the Chemnitz Exhibition Centre to sell tickets and provide information about the public transport services.

If there are not enough P+R parking spaces on the shopping days (Friday, 9 May and Saturday, 10 May) due to customer traffic, prepared reserve parking spaces will be operationally signposted on the access roads and main CVAG lines.

If you are still travelling by car - traffic restrictions

Anyone travelling by car in Chemnitz between 9 and 12 May must expect numerous traffic restrictions. Brückenstraße between Straße der Nationen and Theaterstraße will be fully closed from 7 May at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on 13 May and Straße der Nationen from Neumarkt to Brückenstraße from 7 a.m. on 9 May until 9 p.m. on 12 May.

The Straße der Nationen between Carolastraße and Brückenstraße and Brückenstraße from Straße der Nationen to Bahnhofstraße will be closed to through traffic from 09.05., 7 am to 12.05., 9 pm.

On Sunday 12 May, one of the highlights of the day will be the parade with more than 4,000 participants. The following traffic restrictions must therefore be observed during this time

Closures for through traffic from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

In addition, stopping restrictions must be observed. From 7 May, 9 a.m., it will no longer be possible to park in Brückenstraße between Straße der Nationen and Theaterstraße. There will be further stopping bans from 6 a.m. on 9 May on Brückenstraße between Straße der Nationen and Bahnhofstraße.

To safeguard the parade and to secure the arrival of approx. 100 buses, stopping bans will be put in place on the following streets from 06:00 on 12 May:

To the 5th German Music Festival:

The 5th German Music Festival will take place in Chemnitz from 9 to 12 May 2013. More than 15,000 musicians and an estimated 150,000 visitors from all over Germany and its neighbouring countries are expected to attend Germany's largest music festival. The organiser of the German Music Festival, the Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Musikverbände e.V. (BDMV), promises more than 300 concerts, 200 musical competitions as well as lectures and symposia throughout the city centre.

The current BDMV programme flyer provides information about the festival programme at 42 venues. The city centre map with stage and event locations as well as the overviews of the daily programme offerings enable every guest to plan their own personal concert programme. From next week, the flyers will be available in public institutions, at service points of the city of Chemnitz, venues of the German Music Festival and at advance ticket sales points.
