New in the zoo "nursery": Numerous young animals can be welcomed - for example at the zoo festival at the weekend
Over the past few days, the "nursery" at Chemnitz Zoo has continued to fill up. Zoo Director Anja Dube: "Some of the animal species have had offspring. For example, two male foals were born to the Przewalski's horses and one foal was born to the coolies, although we do not yet know its gender. The offspring live in the respective herds and are already easy to observe. One of the steppe eagles' young hatched, which can be seen as a white ball in the nest."
Other bird species in the tropical house, the parrot house and the pheasantry also had offspring, for example the bearded birds and the blue-fronted amazons. However, according to the zoo manager, the latter are not yet on display for visitors to the zoo.
Newborns at the zoo - this is of course also a special occasion for an extra visit to the facility on Nevoigtstraße, for example to the zoo festival: invitations are issued for Saturday (8 June) and Sunday (9 June), 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in each case - for details, see PM 290 from 29.05.2013(www.chemnitz.de).
