New daycare centre portal launched: Occupancy management for daycare centres and daycare parents

This means that all of Chemnitz's 222 day-care centres and day-care centres run by local authorities and independent providers can be found in this new portal at www.chemnitz.de/kinderbetreuung without exception. From the comfort of their own home, parents can find, select and register at the daycare centre that is right for them and their child. Enrolment is possible after the birth of the child at the earliest.

The city-wide occupancy management system for daycare centres provides parents and daycare centre operators with a citizen-friendly, transparent and modern place and occupancy management system for all municipal facilities, independent providers and daycare parents. In addition, after-school care places can also be reserved via the platform.

"This makes us the first major city in Saxony to be able to offer its parents such a complete solution," says Mayor Barbara Ludwig.

The platform also makes it easier to retrieve and analyse the data relevant to daycare needs planning. This significantly reduces the administrative workload for the centres and the administration.

Around 180,000 euros were invested in the online portal. The application was developed by Arxes Tolina GmbH Berlin and was created in close co-operation with the independent providers. The Saxon data protection commissioner and the church data protection commissioners were involved in the development at an early stage, and their positive preliminary review has been received. This guarantees a high level of data protection and data security. The system can be expanded and could include the processing of parental contributions in the future.

Step by step to registration

As of today, users can register in the daycare centre portal using their e-mail address. They will immediately receive a password for their personal registration. This data can be used to register for childcare places in the daycare centres and childcare facilities run by the local authority and independent providers.

Users can use their e-mail address and password to receive up-to-date information on the status of their application in the daycare centre portal. The new portal takes into account the interests of parents and guardians. Anyone who cannot or does not want to choose between individual childcare options can register their child at various facilities.

Parents and guardians can choose according to individual criteria, such as proximity to their workplace or home, district, range of services and type of provider. They can also choose according to criteria such as accessibility or integrative services. It is also possible to search for and find information on childcare centres and childminders without registering.

In the Kita-Portal, the searcher will find information on the individual daycare centres and childminders, including the educational concepts of the facilities, employment opportunities, additional services, catering and facility details as well as the type of outdoor facilities.

You will receive an invitation from the daycare centre or daycare facility to conclude a childcare contract in good time before the start of care.

In addition to the help and explanations (FAQ) in the daycare centre portal, anyone who needs help with the online registration can also call the standardised authority number 115. In addition, a flyer provides information on everything you need to know and can be found in town halls, citizen service centres, maternity clinics, specialist practices and daycare centres.

All applications submitted before 17 June 2014 have been transferred to the new system. In these cases, the processing status cannot be called up in the daycare centre portal, as it can only be viewed by logging in in person with the password assigned during registration.
