New customer portal for financial social benefits
Construction work requires relocation of individual social services departments
From May, a new central point of contact on the ground floor of the Moritzhof Citizens' and Administration Centre will make it easier for customers of the social welfare office to apply for financial social benefits.
From May, the Social Welfare Office will be setting up a joint customer portal for financial social benefits on the ground floor of the Moritzhof Citizens' and Administration Centre. The portal will focus on benefits that serve to secure livelihoods in the broadest sense and are granted by the social welfare office. The city wants to centralise the application for these benefits, which were previously offered in eight different service areas of the social welfare office.
The customer portal will initially integrate the following services:
- Housing benefit
- Recognition of severely disabled status
- Benefits in accordance with the Saxon State Blindness Benefit Act
- Assistance for the blind
- Federal parental allowance and Saxon state child-raising allowance
- Benefits under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG for school education)
- Benefits for education and participation
- Issue of Chemnitz passes
- Confirmation of compliance with the conditions for a reduction in or exemption from the licence fee
Benefits for subsistence assistance and basic security in old age and in the event of reduced earning capacity in accordance with SGB XII are also to be processed via the customer portal at a later date. As in the previous benefit centres, applications will be issued and customers advised there. The qualified acceptance of applications as well as additional counselling and information services by expert caseworkers is guaranteed. At the same time, other possible benefit entitlements can be checked without any additional time or travelling.
Severe disability/state blindness benefit service relocates
Construction work is now required to set up the customer portal and is scheduled to begin in mid-March 2013. During this time, the Social Welfare Office would like to ensure that consultation hours run smoothly. For this reason, the service centre for the recognition of severely disabled status and for applying for benefits in accordance with the Saxon State Blindness Benefit Act, which is currently located in the area of the new customer portal to be created, will be relocated to the first floor of the Moritzhof during the construction period. The service will take place during the usual consultation hours from 20 March 2013 in room 115. Room 119 will then temporarily serve as the waiting area.
