New concept for used clothing containers
Installation of used clothing containers begins in early January
The installation of used clothing containers in the city of Chemnitz will begin at the start of January. This was decided by the city council at its meeting in September (see PM 617/2019).
The installation of used clothing containers on public streets is only permitted on so-called recycling islands. Only one collection container is placed on each recycling island. The recycling islands will be allocated from 2020.
The installation of used clothing containers is a special use subject to authorisation and fees in accordance with the special use statutes of the City of Chemnitz.
The City of Chemnitz determines the location of the used clothing container on the respective recycling island on a case-by-case basis, taking traffic safety requirements into account. The granting of the required special use permit is preceded by a lottery procedure. The special use permit extends to all container locations specified in the respective collection lot.
After the deadline for applications at the end of November, the applications were checked for completeness and prepared for the lottery. The allocation of the sites took place by means of a public draw in mid-December. Seven interested parties took part in the draw. A total of 13 companies submitted applications for a special use permit for the installation of used textile containers.
The draw was concluded with the following result:
Lot 1: Aktion Friedensdorf e. V.
Lot 2: Profittex GmbH
Lot 3: FWS GmbH
Lot 4: K + K Textilrecycling GmbH
Lot 5: Johanniter Unfall-Hilfe e. V.
Lot 6: Becker Umweltdienste GmbH
The corresponding authorisation notices were sent to the above-mentioned companies. The used textile containers will be set up on the recycling islands defined by the location concept from the beginning of January 2020.
A new invitation to tender as a call for applications for the period 2022 to 2024 is expected to take place in June 2021.
