Chemnitz Christmas Market
The Chemnitz Christmas market is open daily until 22 December, from 10 am to 9 pm
and on 23 December, from 10 am to 8 pm.
Mountain parade on 1 December 2018
One of the impressive highlights of the Christmas season is the 40th Great Mountain Parade on 1 December 2018, starting at 2 p.m., with at least 1,000 traditional costume wearers and mountain musicians. The impressive parade through Chemnitz city centre will begin at Theaterplatz and end with the final concert at Stadthallenpark at around 3 pm. A pre-concert by the Olbernhau-Grünthal smelter band and the choir of the Zwickau Coal Mining Association will be held in the Stadthallenpark from 1.30 pm.
Father Christmas is waiting for the post!
Father Christmas will greet the children on the Christmas market's fairytale stage every evening at 5 p.m. on the dot until 23 December 2018 and surprise all visitors with a fairytale.
Girls and boys aged 4 to 6 who are brave enough to meet Father Christmas in person can contact the Christmas Market Studio at the following address

The children will receive an invitation from Father Christmas himself and should be able to recite a poem or song at their big performance. Santa will give them a present as a thank you. Parents, grandparents or siblings are welcome to help write the letter or draw a picture. Santa's helpers are already looking forward to receiving the post.
Relocated weekly market in the area by the Red Tower
Due to the Chemnitz Christmas market, the weekly market will take place in a smaller form at the Roter Turm until 21 December.
Notice for all residents of the areas around the Chemnitz Christmas Market
On 23 December 2018, the Chemnitz Christmas market will be dismantled after closing time from 8 pm. This may result in increased noise pollution in isolated cases. The City of Chemnitz Trade and Market Department asks for your understanding. Every effort will be made to dismantle the market as quickly and quietly as possible.
Outlook for 2019
The weekly market at the town hall starts on 8 January 2019 and is open Tuesday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm and Saturday, 8 am to 1 pm.
The weekly market on Ernst-Enge-Straße will take place from 2 January to 30 December 2019 (except 24 December 2019), Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm, Saturday 8 am to 12 noon, 31 December 2019, Tuesday 8 am to 12 noon.
