Christmas weekly market at Am Wall/Roter Turm on Tuesday,23 December, 9 am to 3 pm: Customers can buy their pre-ordered Christmas poultry, fish, fruit and vegetables and Spreewald products here.
New Year's Eve market on the Neumarkt by the town hall on Tuesday, 30 December, 9 am to 3 pm and on Wednesday, 31 December, 8 am to 12 noon: before the New Year's Eve celebrations, there will once again be an opportunity to buy fresh food here on the Neumarkt. Carp and trout, spices, sauerkraut, gherkins and olives, meat and bakery products, dairy products as well as flowers and plants are on offer at the New Year's Eve market.
Information on the dismantling of the Chemnitz Christmas market on Tuesday, 23 December: Here is some information for the time after the Christmas market - the Trade and Market Department of the City of Chemnitz Public Order Office would like to point out that the dismantling of the Christmas market will begin immediately after the end of this year's Christmas market on 23 December from 9 pm. Residents are asked to understand that the dismantling work - however professionally it is prepared and carried out - is also associated with some noise.
Start of the weekly markets 2015: The weekly market at the town hall in Chemnitz always begins in the new year after the felling of the Chemnitz Christmas tree and the dismantling of the large pyramid. Both are scheduled for 7 January every year. In turn, the felling and dismantling dates are based on the Three Kings' Day on 6 January. Until then, tradition dictates that the Christmas tree and pyramid always remain on site.
The weekly market at the town hall therefore only starts on Thursday, 8 January and is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm and on Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm. The three weekly markets in the city districts will start on Monday, 5 January in Georgstraße, Ernst-Enge-Straße and Dr.-Salvador-Allende-Straße. Opening hours: Georgstraße: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, Saturday 8 am to 12 noon; Ernst-Enge-Straße: Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm, Saturday 8 am to 12 noon; Dr Salvador-Allende-Straße: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, Saturday 8 am to 12 noon.
