From 30 May to 30 June 2025, young art talents from Saxony and Bavaria will be presenting themselves on an international stage: the award-winning exhibition of the JugendKunstTriennale 2024 of the Saxon-Bavarian Cities Network will be shown at the "Mediterranea 20 Young Artists Biennale BORDERLESS" in the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica/Gorizia (Slovenia/Italy).
The exhibition opening will take place on Friday, 30 May at 4 pm at Palazzo Lantieri in Gorizia. The City of Chemnitz, itself the European Capital of Culture 2025, will be represented by Mayor of Culture Dagmar Ruscheinsky and Head of Cultural Operations Ferenc Csák. Dagmar Ruscheinsky will give a welcoming address. Ferenc Csák will present the concept of the JugendKunstTriennale the following day during a panel discussion on the situation of contemporary artists.
The winners of the JugendKunstTriennale 2024 include several young talents from Chemnitz, such as main prize winner Lotta Seifert and sponsorship prize winner Finia Merle Schneider. Recognition prizes were also awarded to Maximilian Dotzauer, Sophie Gulde (from Limbach-Oberfrohna, as part of the Chemnitz cultural region), Lara Siegel and Lotte Warncke.
A total of seven artists are travelling to Gorizia for the opening of the exhibition - including the two Chemnitz-based artists Lotta Seifert and Finia Merle Schneider as well as other participants from Trebgast (near Bayreuth), Zwickau, Hirschfeld and Plauen.
The JugendKunstTriennale is the joint cultural project of the Saxon-Bavarian network of cities, which includes Chemnitz, Zwickau, Plauen, Hof, Bayreuth and Marktredwitz. The competition offers young artists between the ages of 14 and 25 a professional stage for visual art works and has been organised regularly since 1998. Background
The Mediterranea Biennale (30 May to 3 June 2025) is an international biennial for young contemporary artists in the Mediterranean region. It has established itself as a springboard for young creatives and has been taking place in different cities since 1985. The organiser is the "Biennale des Jeunes Créateurs de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée" (BJCEM), an international network of cultural institutions dedicated to promoting young art. The current edition, entitled "BORDERLESS", is part of the official programme of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica/Gorizia.
