Jugend musiziert 2014: 23rd Chemnitz regional competition successfully concluded 66 Chemnitz participants won 1st prizes - 38 young musicians were forwarded to the state competition

With the announcement of the final results of the 23rd regional competition Jugend musiziert 2014 Chemnitz, an artistically and musically exciting weekend came to an end yesterday evening at 7.30 pm sharp at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, the Flöha Music School and the Bürgergarten Stollberg: in the competition (see also PM 31 from 20.01.2014 - www.chemnitz.de ) from 31 January to 2 February, young musicians presented themselves in the three venues Chemnitz, Stollberg and Flöha in the categories piano solo, classical singing solo, woodwind ensembles, brass ensembles, string ensembles and accordion ensembles.
The juries were very impressed by the confident performances of all participants, according to Chemnitz music school director Nancy Gibson in her capacity as chair of the regional committee Jugend musiziert Chemnitz. Nancy Gibson: "We are delighted and would like to congratulate all competition participants on their impressive presentations! Incidentally, our youngest musicians also won 1st and 2nd prize in the regional competition; however, they can only qualify for the national level at the age of ten. And the very young also achieved excellent results: Ben Lepetit from Chemnitz achieved 25 points on the piano - the maximum score in the regional competition ."
Of the 162 participants in the 23rd Chemnitz regional competition, 74 pupils were forwarded to the Saxony state competition. 66 Chemnitz participants won a 1st prize, 38 of which were forwarded to the Saxony state competition, which will take place this year from 14 to 16 March and from 21 to 23 March 2014 in Zwickau.
Competition results:
Nine pupils qualified for the state competition in the solo piano category: Arne Degenkolb from Lauter-Bernsbach achieved the maximum score of 25 points. In the solo singer category, five young people made it through to the state competition. Nadja Peschel, soprano from Chemnitz, and Richard Glöckner, tenor from Seiffen, achieved the highest score of 25 points.
In the woodwind ensemble category, 19 musicians qualified for the state competition, while nine musicians qualified in the brass ensemble category. Judith Bartel, Henriette Klein and Josephine Hoffmann shone as a recorder trio and also received 25 points, while a bassoon quartet from Halle enriched the regional competition; they were unable to perform in Halle for scheduling reasons. The four bassoonists also scored 25 points. .
Of the accordion ensembles that auditioned in Flöha, 13 students (five ensembles) made it through to the state competition
In the string instrument ensemble category, 23 young musicians (seven ensembles) made it through to the state competition. The string quartet Lasse Anders, violin, Simon Winkler, violin, Helene Winkler, cello and Caroline Zaunick, viola - all from Chemnitz - even achieved the full score of 25 points; they impressed the jury with intense performances of works by Beethoven and Shostakovich.
Jakob Kuhn(drumset) from Chemnitz performed at the regional competition in Zwickau yesterday and won 1st prize. Prize.
