Music school director Nancy Gibson: "Various activities in the field of integrative music work have been taking place in Chemnitz for many years. Following on from the integrative sound festivals in other major cities - Fürth - FIS#, Dortmund - DIS#, Hanover - HIS# - and in solidarity and appreciation with the organisers and creators of these music festivals, the CIS# - Chemnitz Integrative Sound Festival - took place for the first time in Chemnitz in November 2010. This special event will now be continued in 2012."

According to information from the music school, the model character of CIS# is that it brings together groups and individual artists from various areas of disability work in Saxony. Also taking part are: Cello Children and Kaleidoscope from the Chemnitz School for the Blind; AWO Band, Löbau; Alpha Project, Dresden; ORFFeus, Chemnitz; Rock-AG from the Limbach School for the Mentally Handicapped; Wheelchair Dancers from the Chemnitz School for the Physically Handicapped, the integrative music school band MOTUS. The 2nd Chemnitz Integrative Sound Festival will be opened by a school band from the nearby Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Gymnasium. All CIS# participants will rehearse two songs together at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School to kick off the festival, which they will perform at the closing concert in the nearby church.
