Information from the Strategy Committee

At the most recent meeting of the city council's strategy committee, the upcoming city anniversary, personnel development within the city administration and the introduction of electronic mail processing were among the topics on the agenda.

Managing Director Sören Uhle provided information on the preparations for the 875th anniversary celebrations by Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH. The city council will decide on the corresponding draft resolution on 7 December 2016.

The committee members also received information on the staffing plan for the draft 2017/2018 double budget. The previous discussions in the Strategy Committee on the topic of personnel development were incorporated into the current draft, particularly in the training section. For example, the number of training positions, which totalled 175 in 2016, is to be increased to 226 in 2017 and 258 in 2018.

Another topic was the introduction of electronic mail distribution in the city administration, particularly in connection with the upcoming relocation of the offices to the new Technical City Hall. The principle of the central mail, print and scan service with further distribution to the organisational units was presented. Electronic mail distribution includes the digitisation of incoming mail and its distribution in the administration right down to the person in charge, the provision of organisational unit-related incoming mail books and enables searches and searches for digital documents. The incoming mail scan is an important basis for further work towards increasing electronic administrative work.
