Information from the Citizens' Office: Right of objection

Voluntary military service: Women and men born in 1996 have until 28 February 2013 to exercise their right to object to the transfer of data to the Federal Office of Defence Administration for the sending of information material by the Bundeswehr - form also available online at www.chemnitz.de

The City of Chemnitz/Citizens' Office draws attention to the right to object to the transfer of data to the Federal Office of Defence Administration (see also publication in the official gazette of the City of Chemnitz No. 40 dated 3 October 2012 - www.chemnitz.de).

On 1 July 2011, the 2011 Military Law Amendment Act came into force. Women and men who are German within the meaning of the Basic Law can now undertake to perform voluntary military service. Pursuant to Section 58 (1) of the Conscription Act, the registration authorities must annually transmit the surname, first names and current address of persons with German citizenship who will come of age in the coming year to the Federal Office of Defence Administration. From there, information material on activities in the armed forces is sent to the persons concerned.
Pursuant to Section 18 (7) of the Registration Act, data transmission is only permitted if the persons concerned have not objected. The men and women concerned born in 1996 have until 28 February 2013 to exercise their right to object.

The application form for objection to data transfer is available from the Chemnitz registration office and the city's citizen service centres and can also be found online at www.chemnitz.de > Bürger & Rathaus > Formulare > Buchstabe D (Datenschutz). Objections to the transfer of a data subject's data must be addressed to the City of Chemnitz, Citizens' Registration Office, Registration Office, 09106 Chemnitz (Düsseldorfer Platz 1) or submitted to any citizen service centre of the City of Chemnitz.

Office hours of the registration office (Düsseldorfer Platz 1): Monday and Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 12 noon, Tuesday and Thursday from 8.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The office hours of the citizen service centres can also be obtained by calling the single public authority number 115 and can be found on the Internet at www.chemnitz.de > Bürgerservice > Bürgerservicestellen.
