Honouring deserving sports officials
Entry in the Golden Book of the City of Chemnitz yesterday afternoon in the stadium on Gellertstraße
The two deserving sports officials Heinz Kühn (SpVgg. Blau-Weiß Chemnitz 02 e. V.) and Dietmar Hunger (ESV LOK) signed the Golden Book of the City of Chemnitz on Tuesday afternoon. Mayor Barbara Ludwig honoured their many years of commitment at a fitting location - the stadium on Gellertstraße. The award ceremony took place after a guided tour of this sports venue, which came as a surprise to the two sports officials.
Heinz Kühn
Spielvereinigung Blau-Weiß Chemnitz 02 e. V. has nominated Heinz Kühn for entry in the City of Chemnitz's Golden Book. CEO Kerstin Voitel emphasises that Heinz Kühn, who will turn 93 in December, has felt connected to sport and his club for eight decades. He was a founding member of the company sports club Turbine Chemnitz in 1950 and has now accompanied the fortunes of the club for over 60 years in a leading role as head of the football department. He taught countless children and young people not only how to handle the ball, but above all how to work together as a sporting team and strive for a common goal, which also includes defeat. Heinz Kühn enjoys a great reputation in football and is an important pillar for today's Spielvereinigung Blau-Weiß Chemnitz 02 e.V. - which emerged from BSV Turbine 1950 and Union 1977 in 2002.
Dietmar Hunger
The proposal for Dietmar Hunger was made by his club, ESV Lokomotive Chemnitz. Dietmar Hunger has rendered outstanding services to his club and the city through his many years of commitment to sport. He has been a member of Eisenbahner-Sportverein Lokomotive Chemnitz e.V., the legal successor to BSG Lok Karl-Marx-Stadt, since 1975. After his active time as a footballer, he took on voluntary roles in club sport. "From 1984, he was a member of the board of BSG Lokomotive Karl-Marx-Stadt, where he was responsible for finances.
Dietmar Hunger has been President of ESV Lokomotive Chemnitz since 1996," writes the proposing club to the city. Dietmar Hunger has already been District Sports Director Saxony for 26 years with over 14 clubs in the Association of German Railway Sports Clubs, making him the longest-serving District Sports Director in the association. He is also a member of the main board of the association and is responsible as a club representative.
Dietmar Hunger has rendered outstanding services to his association by organising major national and international sporting events, including the 2006 Futsal* Five Nations Tournament, the German Railwaymen's Futsal Championships in 2008 and the Berlin-USIC Championships in 2009. Under Dietmar Hunger's leadership, the ESV board has also paid great attention to modernising its sports facilities. Many refurbishments were realised under his aegis.
