Grand finale at the Kultursommer am Brühl
Invitations to the family outing - varied programme at the weekend - handover of the open-air gallery on Saturday afternoon
The Kultursommer am Brühl is set for a grand finale at the weekend: there is something for everyone in the programme, so you are invited to take a family trip to the inner-city residential district - for example to the artists' flea market and family programme, fashion show with bangle fishing and puzzle tour. The Slackwerk will once again be a sporting event and, in addition to live music and the Chemnitz Radio Ballet, there will once again be all kinds of street art to marvel at
Invitation to the handover of the open-air gallery: On Saturday (7 September) at 4 pm, the organisers of the Kultursommer will hand over the open-air gallery on the boulevard, which has been up since 20 July, to the people of Chemnitz. Interested art lovers and those who would like to become art lovers, as well as representatives of the media, are cordially invited to attend the event.
Selected events for the weekend
Friday (6.9.) to Sunday (8.9.), 4 to 8 pm: Slackwerk Workshop & Show
Like slackliners in city centres elsewhere, this group of young acrobatics enthusiasts from Chemnitz is currently conquering the Brühl with this new trend sport, which involves balancing on a webbing strap. Spectators can watch the acrobats at the weekend or try balancing themselves.
Saturday (7 September), 9 am to 2 pm: Artists' flea market and flea market
Two markets will liven up the boulevard: misunderstood or dusty paintings can find a new owner at the artists' flea market. There is no stall fee. The antique and flea market is organised by the Pro Brühl Chemnitz e.V. association as part of the revitalisation of the neighbourhood. Children, students and pensioners who would like to present themselves as traders can set up their stalls free of charge.
Saturday (7.9.), 12 to 5 p.m.: Family programme
In addition to a bouncy castle, face painting and a hairdressing show at On Hair, the Chemitz Beetle Club will also be presenting its lovingly maintained treasures.
Saturday (7 September), 2 p.m.: Puzzle tour - The Chemnitz Brühl through the ages
On this tour, tour guides Grit Linke and Udo Mayer will explore the historical development of Brühl together with interested parties - once a Kuhanger, later a typical workers' residential area, a shopping paradise for Karl-Marx-Stadt residents in GDR times, then a neighbourhood with many vacancies and in future an attractive residential area for young and old. A quiz with small prizes awaits at the end. Participation is free of charge. The meeting point is the Brühl office (Brühl, corner of Untere Aktienstraße 12).
Saturday (7 Sept.), 4 p.m.: Lecture - The Chemnitz Brühl through the ages
Following the puzzle tour, tour guide Udo Mayer will explain the Brühl through the ages in a lecture with pictures in the Brühl office. The topic is the historical development of the area up to today's inner-city neighbourhood, which is currently undergoing urban development. The event will take place in the Brühlbüro (Brühl, corner of Untere Aktienstraße 12).
Saturday (7 Sept.), 4 p.m.: Spangeltangel fashion show
Spangeltangel is a small fashion label that set up shop on Brühl a few years ago. The current collection will be shown on the typical Brühl platforms as part of the Kultursommer.
Saturday (7 Sept.), 5 p.m.: Chemnitzer Radioballett
The Chemnitz Radio Ballet is a combination of music, text and movement. It tells an exciting story that repeatedly asks the audience to perform movements that fit the plot. However, the listeners are not sitting in their cars or at home, but are standing within sight of the visitors to the Kultursommer on the Brühl. Using small radios with headphones, they receive the FM programme that is part of the play, inaudible to others. In the course of the performance, passive listeners become active artists. Passers-by not involved in the game initially react with surprise and uncertainty. However, as the number of discovered participants grows, the relationship changes. Perhaps you are in the minority yourself with your usual norms? Reality changes when 100 people play air guitar, spin in circles or point at a building. Please bring: a small FM-capable radio receiver with button earphones (most mobile phones and many MP3 players can also receive FM).
Saturday (7 September) from 12 noon: Music on the Brühlterrassen and in the Barlament
Hip sounds are also on the programme for the last weekend cultural summer on the Brühl - Brühl Terraces: 1 pm: Too Little Cage (rock 'n' roll), 6 pm: DJ Mathew (hip hop classic), 8 pm: John Readen live (rap), 8:45 pm: Asthma La Vista live (hip hop). Brühl Barlament (Brühl 51): 10pm: DJ Handtrax + Ben Hedge (turntablism) and 00:00: De La Rué live (tec house).
