Further services available online

From now on, Chemnitz citizens can apply for additional services from the City of Chemnitz easily, conveniently and digitally. In the portal area of online appointments, the services have been extended to other areas, including vehicle registration, driving licence and commercial matters.

The following new service categories are available as online application assistants (OAA) via the City of Chemnitz service portal:

Severe disability: Apply for initial or new assessment online

  • Anyone who has a significant condition due to an illness, an accident or from birth that restricts their participation in life in the community can have this restriction officially recognised as a disability. The disability must not be temporary, but must last longer than six months.
  • In addition to determining the existence of a disability, the extent of the disability (degree of disability) is also determined and the characteristics for claiming compensation for disadvantages are assigned.
  • In the event that the disability that has already been determined has worsened or a new condition has been added, a new determination can be applied for.

Applying for/renewing a severely disabled person's pass online

  • The severely disabled person's pass is a nationally standardised proof of status as a severely disabled person. It is issued on application.
  • The severely disabled person's pass in cheque card format cannot be extended. If the validity of the previous severely disabled person's ID card expires, a new application for a severely disabled person's ID card can be submitted.

Apply online for state blindness benefit and other compensation for disadvantages

  • Blind people are particularly disadvantaged in everyday life. Due to their disability, they are confronted with particular additional material costs. To compensate for this, the Twelfth Book of the German Social Code (SGB XII) as well as the respective state laws of the individual federal states provide for the granting of assistance for the blind.
  • For Saxony, the law on the granting of a state allowance for the blind and other compensation for disadvantages (LBlindG) applies. This is a lump-sum cash benefit granted on a monthly basis. According to this law, the following groups receive cash benefits regardless of income and assets: blind people, severely visually impaired people, deaf people, deaf-blind people and children with severe disabilities.

Background

The new online services are further building blocks in the implementation of the City of Chemnitz's "Digital Agenda". The transformation processes towards a digital administration are being shaped in six programme areas (implementation of the OZG Amendment Act, digital administrative work e-file, digital mailroom, electronic municipal archive, IT service management, new working environments and communication) and four cross-sectional areas (administrative access, open data, organisation/processes and IT infrastructure/digital services).

All administrative services of the City of Chemnitz can be accessed via the service portal at www.chemnitz.de/dienstleistungsportal.

Appointments can be made online in the appointment portal at www.chemnitz.de/terminvereinbarung.
