Further procedure for processing the flood damage announced

The Sächsische Aufbaubank SAB is directly supporting commercial enterprises, associations and property owners in repairing the damage caused by the floods in June. The CWE is available to support companies in the city of Chemnitz. Companies and associations that provide public infrastructure, e.g. transport companies, are to be included in the city of Chemnitz's reconstruction plan. This was announced by the state government at a kick-off consultation on the reconstruction of flood-damaged areas in the Free State.

The support provided by the Sächsische Aufbaubank also includes those affected submitting the necessary funding applications directly to the bank (flood information hotline: 0351/4910-4966).

A formal damage report must be submitted to the Department of Urban Development and Construction for support in the City of Chemnitz's reconstruction plan. There, under the direction of the Mayor for Urban Development, Petra Wesseler, a reconstruction team manages the municipal action plan. All those affected who were registered in the initial flood damage survey were informed about the procedure.

The Saxon state government points out that all applications and notifications must be accompanied by confirmation that the property is located within an area affected by flooding and heavy rainfall. This applies equally to applications from companies, private individuals and organisations or municipal infrastructure providers. Within the City of Chemnitz, it has been determined that the Environmental Office (Tel. 488 3624, Email: umweltamt.wasser@stadt-chemnitz.de) will issue these confirmations after examination.

The concepts for measures to remedy damage to municipal infrastructure are currently being drawn up and submitted to the state directorate for further processing by 31 July 2013. The reconstruction plan for the city of Chemnitz confirmed by the state should be available by the end of September, on the basis of which the specific funding applications can be submitted.
