Funfairs on 3 August and 7 September cancelled
The funfairs planned for 3 August and 7 September unfortunately have to be cancelled.
The Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance, which has been in force since 18 July 2020, allows fairs to be held. However, this possibility is linked to the requirements regarding hygiene concept, distance and traceability as well as a visitor restriction of a maximum of 1,000 people.
The distancing regulations and access controls to ensure a maximum number of visitors cannot be guaranteed for the funfairs in Chemnitz city centre.
In addition, due to the corona-related relocation of the wine village to the market area on 3 August, only a significantly smaller area separated from the Rosenhof would be available.
Under these circumstances, it is organisationally and economically impossible to hold the annual markets. The traders were of course informed of the cancellation in writing.
The city of Chemnitz normally organises fairs on the market areas around the town hall on a Monday from February to November.
