Pressrelease: 228

Full closure of Bahnhofstraße between Carolastraße and Waisenstraße in the direction of the city still necessary - from Tuesday morning (7 May), 6 a.m., "Clear road again!"

The full closure of Bahnhofstraße in the direction of the city in the area between Carolastraße and Waisenstraße must remain in place until Tuesday morning (7 May). "According to information from the city's traffic authority, the road will be open again from 6 a.m. on Tuesday (7 May).

The reason for the currently ongoing full closure of the section of Bahnhofstraße in the direction of the city is the necessary construction work on site due to the burst pipe of a water pipe and the resulting undermined road (PM 215 from 30.04.2013 - www.chemnitz.de). The company RAC (RAC-Rohrleitungsbau Altchemnitz GmbH) has been commissioned to carry out the work by the utility company eins energie in Sachsen.

Bitumen will be applied to the road section on Monday afternoon (6 May) so that the road can be reopened from Tuesday morning after the necessary hardening.

Road users should continue to use the necessary diversion via Straße der Nationen and Brückenstraße; the city's traffic authority also recommends a diversion via Dresdner Straße. Access to the railway station is guaranteed via Carolastraße and the landward Bahnhofstraße. Pedestrians can continue to use the pavement in the area without restriction.

Due to the necessary full closure in the direction of the city centre, there will be changes at the public transport stop at Chemnitz main station. Passengers are asked to take note of the corresponding changes made by CVAG and regional transport by checking the information at the stop and on the internet - www.cvag.de and www.vms.de.
