The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre is offering an online course on Tuesday, 23 March from 5 to 6.30 p.m. that looks behind food labelling. The course offers valuable tips for consumers and also addresses nutrition and health claims on food, such as the labelling of allergens and colourings, and addresses the current debate surrounding the Nutri-Score. There is a lot to discover on food labels: from the colourful presentation, to the list of ingredients, to information about ingredients that is difficult to interpret.
Experts have long been calling for a consumer-friendly labelling system for food. Various proposals have been on the table.
In a survey conducted by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, consumers were clearly in favour of the Nutri-Score. But will this be implemented and what is behind it? How can it help with orientation?
