From Chemnitz. A piano

Get to know the exhibition "From Chemnitz. A piano". It is dedicated to the Margulies family piano, which is representative of the many fates of Jews from Chemnitz who were persecuted, dispossessed and murdered during the Nazi era. The instrument will be presented together with documents from the Jewish family and the audio installation "Duysener Elegie" (2023) by Friederike Bernhardt.

The four main protagonists Christine Stephan-Brosch, Evelyn Krull, Gerdi Sippel and May Voigt are linked by their lives in the GDR and their work as photographers.
The exhibition is dedicated to works created up to the political change in 1989 and shows the different perspectives on social and political circumstances.

Get to know the exhibition "Four Women. Four CVs" and its four main protagonists Christine Stephan-Brosch, Evelyn Krull, Gerdi Sippel and May Voigt. The four women are linked by their lives in the GDR and their work as photographers.

Workshop FOTOLOG - Part 1
Two-part photography workshop with Natalie Bleyl
Be inspired by the works of the four female photographers. During a tour of the exhibition followed by a photo walk in and around the art collections on Theaterplatz, you will learn the basics of analogue photography and take your own pictures with an analogue camera, which will then be developed in the photo lab. Participants then create their own original print of their favourite photographed motif under professional guidance.
Suitable for beginners and advanced photographers.
For the second part on Saturday, 9 March, from 1 to 7 p.m., participants will meet at the photo lab of Klub Solitaer e. V., Augustusburger Straße 102.

The Shrine of Redemption, Europe's Holy Sepulchres
Curator-guided tour through the exhibition
The Holy Sepulchre in Chemnitz's Jakobikirche, now in the Schloßbergmuseum, was the focus of an international colloquium last year.
The exhibition and catalogue take up the results and provide an insight into the typological diversity of the Holy Sepulchre. They were used in very different forms from the 12th to the 16th century: as an ensemble of several chapels in the open air or in the church interior, as ceremonial shrines or chest tombs, as elaborate stonemasonry or simple wood carvings.
From Turku in Finland to Esztergom in Hungary, the range of holy tombs stretches across Europe. In addition to the important examples, the exhibition is also dedicated to lesser-known tombs, which are presented in the form of loans, photographs and media presentations.
