The European Mobility Week will take place in Chemnitz from 16 to 22 September. The mascot Edgar will also be there. He will be attending events and using various means of transport in the city. If you spot him, you can take a photo with him and ask him for a surprise. On 17 September, Edgar will be painting in the Tatra train in Stadthallenpark with young and old artists for the painting competition "Show Edgar and Edda your city". Drawings from Chemnitz's twin towns have already been submitted for the competition. Pictures can still be submitted until 21 September.

Edgar will make his biggest appearance on 18 September from 10 am to 6 pm at the NUMIC MOBITAG. This year, the main day of action will take place on the model route of the project "NUMIC - New Urban Mobility Awareness in Chemnitz", which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The route chosen by the people of Chemnitz from Bernsdorf to the edge of the Zeisigwald forest will be tested on foot and by bike on this day. The start is at the Sportforum, where the PLUS EINS ZÄHLSTATION of the Federal Environment Agency will count all visitors who are sustainably mobile. The aim is to maximise the number of participants in order to be able to compete with other German cities taking part in the European Mobility Week. The NUMIC project team will also be at the Sportforum to discuss the model route with interested parties.

There are various stops along the 5 kilometres to the Yorck area: Among others, the Museum of Saxon Vehicles, the Junior Professorship for Sports Education will provide information on SCHOOLS IN ENGAGEMENT, the Chemnitz Traffic Watch will offer a bicycle simulator and a bicycle course. The Mitte-Ost citizens' platform will also be on site. The city library tells fairy tales with the Japanese storytelling theatre and invites you to upcycle. Pedelecs can be tried out and a cargo bike can be filled with photo montages with the environmental centre. Halfway along the route, the health centre will provide a refreshment stand to recharge your batteries. There is a games stand at the Knappteich pond and just before the finish, the ADFC offers bike coding, among other things. The VCD has a mobile stand along the route. Once you have passed all the stations, you will be rewarded with a sandwich bag at the MOBI thank-you point at the finish and can choose a prize with your stamp card, e.g. tickets for the Tram Museum or the Museum of Saxon Vehicles, vouchers for the Fair World or the children's book "Ein König fährt Bus".

At 4 pm, a cargo bike parade will set off from the TIETZ on the NUMIC model route, led by Edgar on the city council's cargo bike. All Chemnitz cargo cyclists are invited to ride along and show what can be transported on two wheels.

On 19 September, there will be a dance flashmob by the Chemnitz Tour Guide Association at Neumarkt. The following day, "Chemnitz families get moving" when the children's and youth commissioner encourages sporty discovery of the "children's right" in Küchwald from 2 to 4.30 pm. Guided tours of the city and cycle tours will also be offered as part of the campaign week. Many day-care centres and school classes have once again signed up for specially tailored activities. One of the highlights will be the themed puppet theatre performances by "URANIA - Wissen macht Theater".
