Development of a data-based municipal education management system begins
The City of Chemnitz is establishing a data-based municipal education management system as a basis for future education policy decisions by the City Council. By analysing and processing the educational situation in Chemnitz, the long-term aim is to create an education monitoring system that provides information on educationally relevant framework conditions, educational trajectories and educational processes. From this, educational strategies can be derived that address the topic of "lifelong learning". Various partners, such as the State Office for Schools and Education and independent organisations, will also be involved in this city-wide task.
The education monitoring programme is being developed in stages. Initially, the focus will be on the topic of "school success through the acquisition of qualifications". There will be data processing that deals with different issues. For example:
- How should school success be defined?
- Which indicators can be used to draw conclusions about school success?
- What significance does school progression (interruptions, changing school type, school refusal, etc.) have for school success in Chemnitz?
The establishment of the Chemnitz education monitoring system is based on a city council resolution from December 2018, in which the city council instructed the administration to present a concept for this. The first analysis of the education monitoring system will take place in September 2020.
The administration has received funding from the "Bildung integriert" programme of the European Social Fund for the implementation. The project will be carried out in cooperation with the Transferagentur Mitteldeutschland for the duration of the funding.
