Over the next few days, selected households will receive a questionnaire from the City of Chemnitz by post asking them to provide information about their tenancies. This questionnaire will be used to compile an up-to-date and comprehensive rent index.
Every four years, most recently in 2021, the city of Chemnitz prepares a new rent index to clarify how much a rental flat may cost. The rent index is adjusted every two years in line with the current economic situation. This year, the rent index has to be revised.
In order to obtain a realistic picture of the Chemnitz rental housing market and the rents paid for the rent index, the city of Chemnitz needs as much information as possible from tenants about their tenancies. The respondents were randomly selected from the residents' register.
For the survey, the citizens contacted are legally obliged to provide information. This means that they are obliged to provide the information requested.
