Congratulations on your 100th birthday!
Elsa Vogel celebrates her "round" birthday on 11 October 2013
Elsa Vogel will turn 100 on 11 October 2013. A representative of the Mayor's Office will be wishing her a happy birthday at 3 p.m. at the SenVital Senior Citizens and Care Centre "Niklasberg", Deubners Weg 12 in 09112 Chemnitz.
When Elsa Vogel, née Mehnert, takes her seat at the coffee table today, it will not be for a coffee party with her friends, as she once loved to do, but to celebrate her 100th birthday. The agile senior citizen is expecting twenty guests with whom she wants to celebrate into the evening, including her two children with their families, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Born in Grüna, she is a trained seamstress, a profession that has always enabled her to support her family in difficult times. On the one hand, she always had work - during the war she was employed as a seamstress for military clothing and later worked at the Seiler furniture store on Beckerstrasse in Chemnitz. On the other hand, all family members also benefited from Elsa Vogel's sewing skills.
Today, she also enjoys trying out new things. The courses offered at the retirement and care centre are a welcome change from everyday life. Whether it's pottery or garden design - she's there. And not forgetting her daily newspaper reading, which keeps her informed about everything that is happening in the world and in Chemnitz.
