Holiday event: Diary of a high-flyer
Open-air children's book reading with the author Frauke Angel
Location: Am Knappteich, near Fürstenstraße 147
Participation: free of charge
Tomke writes a diary. He hardly feels like talking. But he has a lot to tell. But the words just won't come out of his mouth the way they went into his head. A mind reader would have to be invented! Then everyone would be able to hear perfectly what comes out of Tomke's mouth either not at all, too late or incompletely. However, people would then also hear what Tomke thinks about them. Grandma would be horrified, Mum worried and Dad probably very surprised. Only for Delia, the glittery green girl on roller skates, Tomke's thoughts would be nothing new. Because she seems to be able to read his mind even now. Authentic and funny!
An event organised by the Förderer der Stadtbibliothek Chemnitz e. V. and supported by the Bürgerplattform Mitte-Ost.

Interactive exhibition for more digital news literacy
Location: Central Library, BibliotheksLabor
Admission is free. Registration requested under event booking
How do we inform ourselves in the digital age? Who can we still believe?
And how do we recognise disinformation and manipulation? The action lab, designed by the ZEIT STIFTUNG BUCERIUS, invites visitors to critically question their own information and news behaviour with analogue and digital hands-on stations, for example with virtual reality offers and interactive games. Visitors can playfully test their knowledge, discover the mechanisms behind fake news and AI-generated content and reflect on how opinions are formed.
At a time when many people feel overwhelmed by the flood of information in the digital space, the action lab makes an important contribution to digital media and news literacy - a key skill for democratic participation and informed decision-making.
The action lab is complemented by three workshops (45 minutes): on 12, 19 and 26 August
