City centre parking concept - stage 2
Parking fee regulations in parking zone E will be introduced from 1 July
This week, construction work began on the installation of the new parking ticket machines in parking zone E of the parking space concept stage 2. The Zone E parking management area is to be put into operation from 1 July 2024.
This means that from this date, parking in several streets in Zone E will only be permitted with a parking ticket. The traffic signs will only be placed at the zone entrance and exit. Within the parking zone, no further signage will indicate that a parking ticket must be purchased.
At the same time, the new resident parking zone E will come into operation from 1 July and new resident parking permits will be issued, which can be applied for in advance. Residents with a valid resident parking permit are exempt from the obligation to pay fees (parking with a parking ticket).
The requirements for a resident parking permit are The applicant is officially registered as having their main or secondary residence in the designated area, has a vehicle registered in their name or can prove that they permanently use another person's vehicle and is in possession of a valid driving licence.
A fee of 30 euros per year is charged for the resident parking permit. The permit can be applied for for a maximum of two years. An application form must be completed and the required evidence provided.
The application can be submitted online at www.chemnitz.de/bewohnerparkausweis or sent by e-mail to bewohnerparkausweis(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
Applications will be processed from 1 April 2024. Please note that they can only be processed with a signature or online with an electronic signature and complete documentation.
The parking permit, in turn, will only be returned by post.

The parking concept was adopted by the city council in 2017 and is being implemented in line with the parking requirements, the legal basis, urban developments and transport and environmental policy objectives.
Chemnitz residents and visitors to the city are asked to pay close attention to the local parking regulations and to behave in accordance with the signage.
